  1. How many consecutive first round picks do we get?
  2. Jenrry Mejia banned for life from MLB for his 3rd positive PED test, he was suspended almost all of last year for his 2nd positive test.
  3. Also, until given further notice, I motion we refer to EJM moving forward as "The Toolshed"
  4. That's a pretty big leg kick he has going on, on his front leg in that video.... I wonder if that's something they are working on with him. In the video below he has a much smaller/shorter/quicker load/leg kick from last year with the Cardinals.
  5. EJM was on Law's "just missed" list, here's what he said....
  6. I'd be shocked if that isn't bet up to 91-92 by the start of the year. Could even see if there in a few weeks.
  7. It has to be they haven't planned out their games yet
  8. No, that's not how it works. The team signing the player loses the pick and it's essentially skipped in draft order. The team who loses the player gets a comp round pick.
  9. I think in one of his recent chats he said EJM isn't/wouldn't come close to his top 100 and he wants to see him in, in-game action. I think Law has only seen him in workouts (which he admitted the tools looked good) and gone off 2nd hand reports.
  10. "The guy who's gonna be in Japan in 3 years hitting 50 dongs a year"
  11. If he ends up with Atlanta I feel like there will be some sort of investigation as to how they got him and Maitan next year. Or at least pile on to the case for getting rid of the fucked up system in place
  12. That's exactly what he said about us, fwiw. His team top 10's are out next week.
  13. Trade Coghlan, not Soler. Fowler is an upgrade and a much better roster fit than Coghlan, swapping Fowler for Soler doesn't really move the needle. Also, with being a true CF, Schwarber catching/DHing, and Soler's proclivity for injury, odds are Dex would be able to get closer to 500 PA than 300 once the actual imperfect circumstances of the season play out. I posted this on page 1 and yeah.... It's not hard to get there at all. And my assumption assumes perfect health, no poor performances, crazy platoon splits, etc.
  14. Come back, Dex. Crazy he can't get 2/20, I'd be fine giving him 3/30 with opt outs.
  15. Over/under 2.5 pages until a pitcher who was a projected first rounder this coming draft goes down with an injury?
  16. I'd be really surprised if we end up with him if he comes in around the rumored prices we've heard. If the market never materialized on the big contract that was rumored then maybe I could see us.
  17. It's probably DaBum with all his oil field windfalls thinking this is some sort of revenge
  18. He's the #1 non Harper FA I want over the next few years Trout? He's not a FA until after 2020, Harper (definitely) and Otani (probably) are FAs before then. That's why I mentioned those 2 before Trout. But obviously, yes, Trout could be included as well with Harper in my above statement.
  19. He's the #1 non Harper FA I want over the next few years
  20. If it's really true Rizzo lost 30 lbs or whatever Kaplan said it has to be only a matter of days until we get a "best shape of his life" article on Rizzo.
  21. And the random arguments about how the Cubs aren't that good because they don't have enough pitching to win a World Series. And the variation of that, "the bullpen still is a problem from last year and never got fixed in the offseason."
  22. Not really interested in extending him for the likely cost, ride him the next 2 years, cut bait and grab the draft pick. Go after either Strasburg next offseason or hopefully enough guys in the system continue to develop that we have assets to trade for a pitcher closer to his mid-late 20s by the time Arrieta leaves.
  23. Thibs is a decent coach but top 2-3 in the league he certainly isn't. Pop, Kerr, Rivers, Carlisle ... then a group that Thibs is probably in. Rivers shouldn't be anywhere close to being grouped with the top tier of coaches in the league. Off the top of my head Pop, Kerr, Carlisle, Vogel, Van Gundy, Spo, Stevens and Budenholzer are all better.
  24. *I think* his arm is good enough for his limited other abilities, which I agree, were overblown last year that he shouldn't be all that negative of a defender going forward.
  25. Yeah, Heyward being able to handle CF is literally one of my least worries going into the year.
