  1. It will be fun when the Reds randomly win a series against us in the 2nd half, because baseball
  2. [tweet] [/tweet]"You guys know I'm only here to hit dongs and give mojo heart palpitations, right?"
  3. The Pirates are dead/ end thread
  4. With the slide the Pirates are in and likely how desperate they are, I wouldn't surprised if we see the bunting attack on Lester tonight like we've always speculated teams trying. Seems like the time to do it for an opponent more than ever.
  5. Did Maddon bring out the Dusty Dice for the lineup today? That being said if guys like Bryant and Heyward are getting off days I guess it's optimal to do it around an off day and especially against a tough lefty in Heyward's case.
  6. So who could maybe get one there? Bryant and Javy, maybe? Thats a long ways Bryant, Javy and Soler probably all could in the perfect conditions in BP. In a real game it seems near impossible. Bryant's hit one off the board twice? in a game I think but still didn't come close.
  7. I wonder if Contreras gets the start today with a lefty and at least rumors that Ross got a little banged up in Washington along with Lester going tomorrow
  8. He could be on an AL in the next ~30 days for all your viewing pleasure
  9. I don't know if a fan of a MLB team in June could ever definitevly say "if my team wins the next 6 games the division race is over" in a non hyperbolic way, but here we are.
  10. I'd imagine another reason for the call up is to give Ross more rest. He's on pace to start/play in over 100 games this year, something he has only done once in his career and that was 2007. He's been in the 50-60 game range for most of the time between 2007 and now.
  11. As long as they don't hurt anyone and nobody on our team does anything stupid in retaliation to get suspended I'm all for the free base runners
  12. David Wright doen for the year with neck surgery
  13. What about David Phelps from the Marlins? He's moved to a full-time relief pitcher this year and his stuff seems to be playing up quite a bit. Striking out 10.25 per 9, his FB average is up around 3 MPH and his cutter average a little over 2 MPH (he throws those pitches about 91% of the time). He's also topped out an nearly 97 MPH on his FB and has hit 95 on his cutter. He's olderish, 29, and is in arbitration. I can't imagine the Marlins would be too stuck on keeping him, seems like he could be had for maybe only 1 player like a McKinney and maybe a wild card pick like a Black or Rivero, etc.
  14. At this point last year Warren had about a dozen starts under his belt, I wonder if starting the year in the bullpen as opposed to getting the longer/scheduled reps of starting has thrown him off a bit to start this year? Just looking for an explanation because his stuff seems fine.
  15. I think he'd want Torres. Doolittle is very good, cheap, and has 4 years of control. There's plenty of teams in need and its extremely early to make a deal. So my guess is it'd take giving him a SS to help make up for losing Addy, to get him now. And likely a Zagunis or Vogelbach to go with him. I know that sounds high, but he's not going to come cheap at all. If Torres is involved in a deal with Oakland I want Gray involved
  16. I just think in general Zagunis is a good player and intriguing prospect, but he seems like a guy Beane would really value. I wonder how much more than him would have to be included to get Doolittle.
  17. Let us never forget, we only lost this game because of a shitty home plate umpire in the bottom of the 9th
  18. It's not "a major problem." It could be improved, yes. But it's not some dearth of talent as currently complied or believed by many. Our bullpen (which includes many of the same guys this year) was better than the vaunted Royals bullpen last year in many ways.
  19. I kinda like it. If they are gonna lose, let them have extra time to think about it and be pissed because A) losing happens so little with this team and B) there's very few things to get mad about this year.
  20. I mean if you are going to pull him now, why not have Warren just start the inning or at least bring him in to face Taylor?
  21. This is one of those games in the 6th inning I didn't really bother me if we lost. Now I really want to win this [expletive]
  22. Well except for our starting pitcher being awesome again
  23. Yeah despite giving up runs he and Strop look fantastic. Not worried at all about either of them closing out games.
