  1. Seriously, he shouldn't be going anywhere except to our 25-man next year (or even sometime this year). So he can fight for 350 PAs each of the next 2 years at the big league level, while 60% of the starting rotation reaches FA? He easily could reach more than that, if Javy continues to be ass vs RHP, they are clearly limiting Zobrist and it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to become a 120-130 game a year guy over the next 2-3 years, if Schwarber and Heyward show they struggle vs LHP (or certain types) he has plenty of opportunity to reach 400+ PAs pretty easily with what he offers/could supplement on the current roster. Use money on pitching or lesser prospects to get the pitching. The FO has shown they can do this. I'll probably get killed for this but I'm getting to the point with Happ where I'd rather keep him and trade Javy if one had to go in a trade. I think the roster can be constructed where they co-exist and prefer that route but if one had to go to clear a jam (a jam I don't think exists because of our rosters positional versatility and Joe's ability/willingness to maximize that) I'd trade Javy. LaStella will be the guy to go for Happ I'd imagine though.
  2. Law updated his top 50.... Eloy is 9 and Happ is 46 LOL
  3. Seriously, he shouldn't be going anywhere except to our 25-man next year (or even sometime this year).
  4. What's Hatch's ceiling as a starter? Mike Leake/Jason Hammel type value?
  5. I could see it. Bulls have the best player in the series. If you get engaged Rondon he could shut down Mini Me or else Jimmy can.
  6. What did Rondo get this offseason? I'm guessing it's similar to that.
  7. That sucks, he definitely looked better in his outing tonight. Would think even if it's minor it's a 10 day DL type thing. Who's the first to get called up? Zastryzny? Mills? Buchanan? Brooks?
  8. Well that sucked, at least we will only have to go through that 50-55 more times this year.
  9. I hope they sell replica ones, hopefully on the level of the tour guide lady, so I can buy one for my office.
  10. Yup, I'd prefer Ball over anyone for them. He can be the best player in this draft and him and Russell could co-exist in the back court and he wouldn't hurt Ingram or Randle developing. Russell and Ball's ability to not only nothings with the ball but also do things off the ball and Russell's great numbers as a catch and shoot guy would open things up for the offense, IMO. The defense would leave something to be desired but hopefully that's something they all grow in to. If they do end up with the 3 pick (assuming Fultz and Ball are 1-2) I like all of Josh Jackson, Monk and even Markkanen as good fits for the team along with them as prospects alone. I think Jackson and Ingram could co-exist on the floor at the same time as SG/SF/PF (depending on lineups) and wouldn't affect either's development. Monk would help space things as a SG and keep Clarkson as a 6th man, which is his ultimate role on a good team and I just really like Markkanen's game and his floor spacing ability, you couldn't play more than 2 of Randle/Nance/Ingram/Markkanen at a time most likely but would give you a solid, young, starting lineup of Russell/Clarkson/Ingram/Markkanen/Zubac with Randle and Nance off the bench.
  11. It's only a 1 pick difference. It's either a 2017 1st and a 2019 1st or a 2018 1st and two second round picks. So they lose a 1st regardless. That's not to say it's nothing but I hate how people in the media are acting like its two 1sts being lost or 0. While that's true, you still want to keep as many first round picks as possible. Plus they were in a spot now to guarantee themselves top 2 odds and fucked it up royally and who knows if next year they will even be bad enough to be in a spot to be getting top 3 odds or if the draft will even be close to as talented as this years. Obviously the #1 pick this year would be preferred but any of the top 3 picks this year should net them a really solid player.
  12. As a Laker fan the last ~3 weeks have been the worst, they keep horsefeathering winning. Including a head to head matchup vs the Suns. It's more than just tanking for this year too, if they don't land a top 3 pick this year their first round pick in 2019 goes to the Magic as well.
  13. Apparently Harvey just left the game for the Mets. No idea what the injury is.
  14. I think the Royals did all last year, or maybe the only Royals game I watched all year was their home opener game. They aren't important enough to remember.
  15. SSS and stupid to take anything as meaningful right now but he certainly looks closer to 2014 Javy so far this year than last years improvement Javy, especially last night. Part of that is probably due to the fact over half his PAs this year have been vs RHP so far. It's almost as if his PAs against them should be limited or something. It's almost like we could have guessed this would happen..... I get we have the luxury to throw him out there vs RHP since we are so good and hope he figures something out, because developing an average to good Javy vs RHP is what's in the team's long term interest (at the expense essentially of holding 70-100 PAs away from John Jay). But he looks like he has no horsefeathering clue vs RHP and right now our best possible starting lineup vs RHP shouldn't have Javy in it (Jay or Almora in CF, Heyward in RF, Zobrist at 2B).
  16. Is "same old Javy" the 2014 Javy or the 2016 Javy? Swing% O-Swing% Z-Swing% Contact% SwStr% K% 2014 46.8 39.5 58.7 59.0 19.2 41.5 2016 52.6 42.9 67.9 72.4 14.4 24.0 SSS and stupid to take anything as meaningful right now but he certainly looks closer to 2014 Javy so far this year than last years improvement Javy, especially last night. Part of that is probably due to the fact over half his PAs this year have been vs RHP so far.
  17. From my not expert analysis of Willy vs Javy there from watching these early games. It seems like Willy takes one or two wild hacks in an ab where it seems like he's just guessing FB and swinging hard no matter where the pitch is, but then can generally reign it in and put together a quality ab after his one guess swing. Javy on the other hand seems like the same old Javy. Agree that Willy probably needs to cut the O-Swing rate down but I don't think it's just entirely him not recognizing correctly/not being able to control himself I think part of it is him cheating.
  18. We should start a petition to get the seal exhibit at Shedd Aquarium (no idea if they have one but let's start a petition for that too if they don't) named after LaStella
  19. Also looking at the pitch values on fangraphs, it appears to be a great pitch. Don't mind me. Don't feel too bad. I watch the Royals almost as much as the Cubs. Doesn't he kinda have a few variants of the Cutter too? Yes it gets classified as an overall Cutter but he'll change speeds on it a bit and sometimes make it move more laterally (cut more) or vertically (drop more)? So it's one pitch but has 2-4 different versions of it?
  20. If anything Jay should've been pinch hitting for Javy last inning, not Almora here. If he really wanted to get Jay in. Seems weird
  21. I have mixed feelings so far, seems to be leaving a good amount of stuff in the middle of the plate and not locating great. But the results have been good and velo has been good. So hopefully as he gets more reps he sharpens up to become elite again.
