Having your best or 2nd best and most expensive pitcher go nearly 50+ pitches in an inning is stupid. I'm glad he did it. I am pretty confident that our manager/pitching coach can decide that. Looks a lot more like Lester being frustrated than him being worried about his health (again, IF he took himself out without an injury). I don't disagree the optics are bad and gonna lead to unnecessary attention/talking points. But big picture injury or frustration being the reason I'm fine with him taking himself out.

Sort of did look like he tapped out. Which would be much better than an arm injury. Cant wait to hear the meatballs go after him for taking himself out of a game just because he was having a rough inning. I kinda love the move on his part, was at ~40 pitches for the inning despite having ~8 balls hit that are outs 80%+ of the time. Save the arm for the long haul.
