  1. That article/take is too dumb to even acknowledge
  2. I’m bummed it’s probable this is Jake’s last start
  3. You'd pay Jake what he's going to demand? Jake should be gone unless we can somehow get him frontloaded for 3 years or less (so...no). Wade yes, but need to figure out either different personnel or a different approach for the guys in the pen, if not both. Zobrist has a no trade clause and is from here, so doubt he's going anywhere, but Happ, Baez, and Almora need to be getting the majority of ABs in second and in center next year. Jay/Avila, whatever. Do whatever you can to get Otani, or at least keep the Dodgers from getting him. If not, I'll trust Theo to pick from Schwarber/Baez/Happ/Almora to get us a starter. Looking at the NL Central, another year like this, which was basically a disappointment, should be more than enough. Only so much you can do to maximize your chances in the playoffs, so no need to blow a ton of cash on anyone not named Otani or Harper. There’s plenty of playing time for everyone, especially if Jay is gone that we shouldn’t really trade anyone unless we completely whiff on FA pitchers or a advantageous trade pops up but I’d just rather spend money on pitching than deplete the young bats.
  4. What? I’m kinda cool with keeping our 23 year old SS who’s averaged nearly 3 WAR a year in his first 3 years and is a great defender and already passable and likely to get better offensively. And Javy is perfectly fine when played properly and even as a Javy hater he’s shown improvements this year.
  5. I’m on record as wanting to bring almost everyone back (Wade, Jake, Avila and maybe Jay guess Happ kinda takes his spot) then sign Cobb or Otani as well. Role with the same plan as last 2 years kinda, hope for better health so you can keep Zobrist a little more fresh and keep him at 120 games or less and I guess hope Heyward has another offseason swing change attempt. You'd pay Jake what he's going to demand? I hope the QO scares some teams away or teams are scared he’s more pixie dust than good so his market never materializes and we can get him for like 4/110 or less. I’d be out on him for a Lester type deal.

  7. I really hope tomorrow isn’t Jake’s last start as a Cub (I want to resign him) the thought makes me sad.
  8. The umpire in the LF OF had his arms up calling it dead
  9. Yeah I mean at worst they are probably a WC. But I’ll give it a try........Their road to “suckage” is probably all their starting pitchers who are older and have been hurt get older/hurt, their throw horsefeathers against the wall in the bullpen doesn’t stick and outside of Jansen the bullpen sucks, the Chris Taylor’s of the world go back to being the Chris Taylor’s of the world and not 4+ WAR players, Turner loses his pixie dust/gets old, Seager is kinda showing he might be an injury prone guy and has bumps and bruises all year, Bellinger does what Pederson did after his first year and isn’t as good as he was after his rookie year, that’s all I got.
  10. We can still win this thing but my god nobody is making it easy
  11. Carried out on a stretcher. Terrible. I hope to never see the photos or video It was really bad. I thought he just landed on his back after getting upended on an alley oop and I was worried about his tailbone. Hayward just sat there for a second until the camera zoomed in and Kevin Harlan noticed it and started going crazy. I saw one closeup of it and just changed the channel immediately. David Chao on Twitter said that it's not a career ender and there's a chance he could be back for the playoffs. Really? The playoffs are like 7 months away so I guess it’s conceivable if it’s “just” a broken ankle
  12. Welp, Warriors-Cavs 3.0 it is then. That injury was so gross I had the unfortunate luck of accidentally seeing it on Twitter. Really sucks for Celtics, I wanted them to beat the Cavs so bad this year.
