  1. Yeah there was something. He’s really good friends with one of their owners, Larsay or something like that and I think the story is he kinda got himself fired or quit from the Nets on purpose to go to the Bucks then when he got in that owner basically gave him autonomy for controlling everything behind whoever the GM at the time was back and he had those powers taken away in the past year.
  2. Bucks fire Kidd
  3. It got retweeted in my timeline and it's one of the Barstool guys (I know) who has broken Yankees stuff before and he says he's hearing Ellsbury to the Brewers is coming. You would think that clears the way for the Yankees to go get Darvish. Would also make sense why the Brewers have sudden interest in Darvish to push the Yankees to give up a better prospect (and/or eat some or more of Ellsbury deal) and also jive with the guy on the Brewer message board saying there's a sequence of moves lined up for them based on one happening first (Ellsbury needs to waive his NTC).
  4. Fun Fact, according to Steamer Jason Heyward would be the leader in WAR for the Brewers in 2018. .5 more than the top position player and .4 more than the top pitcher. We have 11 players projected for more WAR than the Brewers highest projected WAR player and Bryant and Rizzo both project to produce more WAR by themselves than the Brewers entire starting infield combined (Thames, Villar, Arcia, Shaw and Vogt) as well. Basically when the Brewers show up to a projection fight with us and think they can compete.... http://78.media.tumblr.com/6868d67722f6ec5a071845b562e5cb38/tumblr_o18rkrn3XO1rp84c6o1_400.gif
  5. LOL. The guy who claims to know things there says there is a waterfall of moves set up and multiple trades are agreed to but predicated on one going through. I could see something like Travis Shaw to the Yankees for Ellsbury and most or all of his salary and a good prospect or 2 then Domingo Santana and maybe a guy like Villar or Sutter/Woodruff and a prospect(s) to the Indians for Kipnis and Salazar then they can go sign Moustakas/Fraizer for 3B. Don't think it makes them better but allows them to potentially sell high on two guys and buy a good prospect or 2 from the Yankees and a lotto ticket in Salazar if he ever stays healthy.
  6. I know it's been said over and over but this really does feel like the week-10 days where a bunch of moves happen.
  7. All these rumors about impact guys and then the Brewers just ending up with Whit horsefeathering Merrifield would be just terrific
  8. Heyman and a Brewers writer follow this guy.
  9. Villar and a bunch of prospects for Castro and Yellich? They have the minor league talent to pull that off? I could see that, something like Villar, Santana and prospects for those 2. Or else maybe a Fulmer or Archer trade Have seen it could be Ellsbury, essentially buying a prospect by taking his salary. That wouldn’t strike me as “big” but would potentially bring the Yankees back in to the Darvish sweepstakes
  10. A guy who knows things/“has sources” at Brewerfan.net says this is a big trade, fwiw
  11. We are going to take so many extra bases on his arm out there. It’s crazy he’s going to RF lol With his arm (and really not great range) it wouldn’t surprise me if he ranks as one of the worst defensive RF’s amongst those who qualify this year
  12. They think Pham is the second coming of Jesus. Ozuna/Pham/Dexter is their OF Dexter’s arm in CF was weak and can only be worse in RF. We are going to take so many extra bases on his arm out there. It’s crazy he’s going to RF
  13. I shouldn’t care about them as much as I do, but I’m surrounded by mostly idiot Brewer fans where I live and much of what they think that board regurgitates. They can think what they want about us, they’re wrong, but I can’t stand how they think they have this great window about to be opened up of competitiveness. They have no stars up or coming up, they have incredibly limited spending resources and nearly everyone on their team last year played out of their ass/are regression candidates this year and their best, young pitchers shoulder exploded. They’re going to win mid-low 70 games this year and I’m going to love it when their fans don’t understand what happened since they think everyone they have is so great.
  14. Exactly!!!!! Question: Can the Cubs sign Harper and Kimbrel next offseason without penalty? Unless multiple guys just blow up I doubt they are spending much on the bullpen next year. They’ll have everyone back plus potentially guys like Maples, Alzolay, etc a year older and ready to contribute/expand roles. At best it will be a Duensing type guy or 2.
  15. Semi-related to the current discussion about the core and keeping guys, future spending, etc (since this offseason is so boring I’ve been reading other teams boards more often) Brewerfan.net is doing that thing again where Theo woefully fucked up our window and it’s now closed or significantly shortened and also David Stearns is such a genius, savant GM he’s tricked Theo into overpaying for guys by feigning interest (Quintana as an example) and continues to have these wizardry powers over Theo this offseason, also the D’backs are better than us and set up better than us. Go to about post 77 and then to the next page it continues. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=36121&start=60
  16. They think Pham is the second coming of Jesus. Ozuna/Pham/Dexter is their OF
  17. i think all it does is free montgomery to play the swing role again and make spot starts without relying solely on wilson for left-handed relief when monty is starting. I think if The Cubs get Darvish or bring back Jake Montgomery is traded. Highly doubt that unless there’s irreparable relationship damage with him not being made a starter
  18. Adjust our win total by at least 3 wins with this greaseball off that team. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. I also really don’t see the “want to sign homegrown stars” thing being in the way. Sure with arb/contract raises kicking in the payroll will increase but right now Bryant is the only guy who you’d project worth giving big money to come FA/need to be aware of long-term budget wise. Russell, Schwarbs and Javy could get there but aren’t to the point yet where you have to start budgeting huge salaries to keep them (other than through arbitration), Rizzo is signed through age 32/33 season, Happ and Willson are like 5 years away from FA (and ~3 years away from any significant salary in arbitration) and Hendricks/Q are pitchers so who knows where they’ll be in 2-3 years when they are FAs.
  20. The whole idea of waiting for the deadline to fill a rotation or other hole is fine, but what worries me is that we obviously don't have the top end prospects (sure in 6 months a guy or 3 could rise) but more than likely it's going to take guys on the major league roster to add anyone of significance and doing that midseason can be a bit tricky since we may also need that guy on the major league roster for a playoff run. With enough good options yet for just money I hope, and think, that we really should and will add one of the better FA SP yet and that's the smartest/safest way to go instead of waiting for midseason when who knows who will be available and at what cost. For example I'd rather we cave and go 3/50 on Cobb or 6/130 on Darvish than let Monty start/sign Hellickson or whatever for cheap then risk/hope someone is available at the deadline that we could make a move for and that losing a Happ, Javy, etc. also somehow wouldn't hurt us being competitive the rest of the season at the same time.
  21. I’d absolutely hate this and also don’t think Duensing means Monty in the rotation. They have (and had last year) much different bullpen roles/values.
