  1. Justin Turner and 1 of Odorizzi, Walker or Jake would be the only thing where I could see that we could come away with as good or better of a team with moving Bryant then using the money to add stuff. Hopefully, they're getting something in return from the Met's because I don't trust PTR to spend the money after dumping Bryant. JD Davis and Familia or Betances are major league names I’ve seen mentioned in rumored deals since it sounds like the Mets want to dump some money.
  2. At least they have the potential to platoon basically all of them with the roster construction? Bryant has a 159 wRC+ vs LHP for his career, Marisnick at 93 plus elite defense, Ervin at 113. Would assume lineups would be something like this. Vs RHP 1. Happ CF 2. Bryant 3B 3. Rizzo 1B 4. Javy SS 5. Joc LF 6. Willy C 7. Heyward RF 8. Bote/Nico/FA TBD 2B Vs LHP 1. KB LF 2. Rizzo 1B 3. Javy SS 4. Willy C 5. Ervin RF 6. Bote 3B 7. Nico 2B 8. Marisnick CF Platoons are all well and good, but when half your lineup is based on them they are easy to exploit with decent pitching. It’s only 3, maybe 4 spots. The whole OF and 2B and they might not even really platoon Happ or Joc (allegedly they told him he could face LHP). The 3 batter rule helps make platooning easier, pitchers not going as deep hurts it though and getting to bullpens sooner. Seems like plenty of the smart teams platoon plenty. The Dodgers have been since 2016 with Joc/Taylor/Hernandez/etc.

  4. Durant was pissed about being pulled because he didn’t test positive, was just around someone with a positive and he also already had the virus in the offseason/during the bubble. I think the science is still out but I think it’s possible once you’ve had it you can’t spread it anymore so guessing that’s where the frustration came from.
  5. Pretty cool to have a starting OF that struggles against LHP across the board. Ideal roster building, imo. 6. He sucks but can serve a purpose against LHP/late inning defense. With him, Ervin and KB it’s nice to have some OF options vs LHP since all of Joc, Happ and Heyward struggle vs them.
  7. I like Durant but my dislike of Kyrie and Harden easily outweigh that. Same. Durant is so fun to watch and arguably the best player in the league, and yes has his own weirdness with the social stuff. But [expletive] Kyrie and Harden take it to another level. I wish Durant wasn’t surrounded by such fools, he’s so much fun to watch and cheer for.
  8. Same, thought Curry/Klay/KD would’ve done it or like Harden and Gordon or Ryan Anderson a few years back
  9. Lowrie signed back with the As, he may be broken for good but would’ve been a cheap flyer as a LHH 2B option who can do the contact thing. Looking at available FA remaining there aren’t many options, Kipnis, Marwin, Panik and maybe Asdrubal if you think he won’t be a butcher at 2B.
  10. If true, it’s genius. Couldnt the place that took the bet not pay out if they had this information? Props like that are usually capped at $50-$200, a book wouldn’t have taken a 50k whatever bet in all likelihood.
  11. The 7 inning double headers make sense with pitchers facing innings limits they ordinarily wouldn’t have with the shortened year last year, imo. But so stupid they aren’t keeping the DH and keeping the runner on 2B rule.
  12. A lot less than you think. Which isn't a knock on Brady. He was smart enough to know Tampa Bay was the best situation available (certainly way better than New England) and took it. Top of my head TB, Buffalo, Miami (with all their draft and spending capital), SF, both LA teams, Baltimore, Pitt, Saints, Broncos, and Indy?
  13. Based on league revenue. I believe the salary cap is 50% of the total league revenue. So, 180M X 32 teams = 1/2 of the money made by the league. Players get half, owners pocket the other half split evenly. That's generally the gist I think, but I think they play some games with it with the goal to make actual cash as close to the end revenue split as possible. And I think they're playing extra games this year to smooth the effect of covid revenue dips. Yeah I think there’s some future cash flow projections that are involved. It’s why the NBA kept the cap “artificially” high this year because the actual revenue last year and projections moving forward didn’t dictate the cap to be where it is based off actuals.
  14. What a fitting picture to use of him diving for a ball he didn’t catch
  15. I’d trade him for the right package. He’s not the best or second best player on a championship team and with his age he doesn’t fit whenever the next peak/core is for this team. I disagree and think he could be the second best player on a championship team. He’s playing so well lately, just surrounded by absolute bums. I mean Garrett Temple and Denzel Valentine are getting big minutes. Coby White is statistically one of the worst players in the league. The second best uninjured player on the team right now might be a 19 year old rookie. I get that 25 year old Zach Lavine may be too old/expensive by the time we get this figured out. But with the way the lottery is now, I don’t want to take a shot unless I’m guaranteed a top 3 pick in 21. If Lauri is out for an extended period of time, we MIGHT be bad enough to luck our way into a top pick, while keeping Zach. That would be ideal. I just don’t see it in Zach, he seems like empty stats that don’t translate to winning and also plays terrible defense. The fact he hasn’t been able to get them to an 8 seed as the guy tells me he’s just a third best or role player on a championship team. Especially in this shitty eastern conference last few years. Talent wins out in the NBA and he hasn’t proven he has it other than getting the volume to put up shots on a bad team. I’d cash out on him before committing big money to him. He’s obviously talented, just don’t think he’s a guy if you’re trying to win.

  17. To be fair the source I cited was that New York media guy, who I think had it out before Boob tweeted anything.
  18. Yeah there’s plenty of pitchers we could cut loose I wouldn’t care about. Winkler, Norwood, Maples, Fenter, Holder, Wieck (if he’s broken), with Alcantra now in Vargas or Schrock could be let go too. Some redundancy with those 3. A trade could be coming too.
  19. They're apparently paying like 95% of what's left on Dex's salary. So they're pretty much paying Dexter Fowler not to play for them. Yeah, it really doesn't make any sense unless they have another OFer ready to go. They can't seriously be starting Bader, Carlson and O'Neil with Lane Thomas as the 4th OFer. I think they’re in on Reddick, which that still isn’t that good of an OF. Arenado-Goldschmidt is a nice 1-2 punch but there isn’t much talent or certainty on the rest off the offense.
  20. This horsefeathering guy
  21. Their pitching is still really suspect
