    I think parts of it are definitely real (he’s definitely not as free swinging anymore like the K rate shows) but he still isn’t walking at all so he’s going to have to keep getting a lucky with the batted balls to stay all-star level productive I’d guess i mean his babip is only .295. I wasn’t aware of that. I just assumed he had a crazy BABIP since he cut the K rate down so much and still is walking at like 4%.

    He put up an .899 in 06/2016 and a .846 in 07/2016, bookended by .551 and .594. That's about as hot as he's been, as I can tell, and I forgot how good he was last year...851 OPS in the second half. It's not the 'ideal' type of a high OPS, but I'll more than take it. he was probably being shielded a lot more in those stretches though. dude's got a 158 wRC+ and .405 wOBA through 132 PA right now. basically playing everyday. oh and his strikeout rate is 19.7% LOL.     He should be on the playoff roster since you typically carry 2 less pitcher. I like what I see as a utility guy.

    Yeah it’s frustrating. But I guess at least when he’s off he’s usually missing on the edges of the zone and not in the zone giving up hard hit balls all over the place and he usually can put together 5-6 innings when it’s all done and keep us in a game.

    Jesus Christ Q, could’ve been out of this inning with the pitch count at like 26. I hate 2 out bases empty walks.

    That’s like the worst place for him to go with the ballpark and their inability to develop/work on any pitching. I’m pretty shocked he didn’t end up on one of the West Coast teams with a bigger park (which is like all of them). The Reds have the worst record in the NL so they had dibs. At least that's how it used to work. That’s right. Thought he was free to sign with whoever and then a trade could be worked out, but that’s wrong.

    Yeah I guess. But we decided to use a 40-man spot on this guy over Maples and whoever came up today is likely to get in since everyone was used yesterday. Just must not have much faith in Maples (or maybe he pitched a lot lately).

    This is the only time Maples was passed over. All of the guys called up besides Hancock were long men/spot starters, something Maples isn’t. And I’d probably have called up Maples over Hancock. What about Farrell and Mazzoni or whatever his name was?

    The numbers TT just shared made me realize that the idea of the player Manny Machado is, is far greater in most people’s minds than the actual player he is or likely will be.
