  1. I could see trading for a starter if things don't get better (I think they will), but Hamels makes no sense. He has the EXACT SAME PROBLEM as the rest of our starters. He's lost a couple MPH off his fastball, so now his walk rate is creeping up because he's nibbling, and when he does throw strikes he's giving up homeruns like crazy. I really don’t see a scenario playing out where we trade for or sign a starter of any more significance than a Eddie Butler.
  2. DeJong to the DL with a broken left hand after getting hit by a pitch last night. He’s the only SS on their 40-man so I guess the Gyorko SS experiment will be back.
  3. Take on Parsons deal. He's got 2/50 left on it. That gets you from 7 to 4, plus the 32nd pick, and maybe a protected future 1st as well. Are they severely up against the luxury tax or something? They’re about $15-16 mil under but I bet they’d entertain getting out of his garbage deal and dumping a garbage player for only dropping back a few picks.
  4. Why in the world would we trade for a starter. What a dumb horsefeathering idea with no common sense thought. Do these guys not look at rosters and think logically about roster construction for a second?
  5. I posted about Hutchinson a few months ago as my sleeper. I really like him. I like Allen too for a 20+ round guy and the Divancinzo (spelling, I know) guy from Nova.
  6. The make up day now has us playing 23 days in a row (and 29 games in 30 days) from end of August in to September. Including 6 vs the VBs, 4 vs the Nats and 3 vs the Phillies. I’d rather we just stayed up until 2 am to get it in.
  7. There were rumors Alzolay would make a start Saturday because we needed a guy but we should be good to go Lester Friday, Hendricks/Q Saturday, Darvish Sunday, off day Monday, Chatwood Tuesday, Lester Wednesday, then off day Thursday, so on and so forth.
  8. Why? They don't play until 7:10 tomorrow. I'd still rather not the team arrive in Cincy at 6 AM. I’d rather them not have to fly to Atlanta on a random Thursday from like Arizona the day before and be on like a 15+ game stretch. They could sleep all morning/day tomorrow in Cincy and not show up to the park until like 4:30.
  9. Braun to DL with a back injury
  10. Gotta remember the Cuban gem we unearthed named Concepcion. I still am not convinced Concepcion was ever a real person but merely a front/pay off to get Jorge to pick us
  11. yeah it's Ugly Jose, i knew he was *good* but seeing his production for like the last year + completely knocked my socks off at AA, he hit 3 HR in 113 G Lindor hit 7 in 109 G they've each hit 36 in the last year Maybe they’ll win a World Series one day with all that talent
  12. Well, go get em tomorrow and get a series win
  13. He’s had a really weird schedule lately I think. Like off 4-6 straight days and now he’s gone 3 times in 4 to 5 days.
  14. it’s too bad Wilson sucks because he could’ve been used in this spot instead of Carl back to back days
  15. They won 92 games last year, that’s more than any of the other horsefeathers teams in the division will win this year. You’re such a horsefeathers
  16. Javy can go back to hitting 8th any day now
  17. That’s just unacceptable, Anthony. Take your walk
  18. No Zobrist for Happ, pitchers spot or Almora seems odd
  19. Corey Patterson missed this conversion by one year. i wonder if corey patterson turns out any differently with 2018 cubs level minor league player development vs the disaster that the organization was 20 years ago, which was still a relative disaster compared to the rest of the league Definitely and to a lesser degree even Vitters (if the hand eye coordination stuff was true).
  20. It’s frustrating to see Rizzo not at least foul those balls off, if not do damage with them.
  21. I thought Russell’s ball was going off the wall if not out
  22. I don’t mind this idea. It would make “super teams” easier to put together if guys are willing to take less and probably keeps smaller markets down short of way overpaying for dudes (would like John Wall rather be the highest paid guy in Minnesota for example vs Durant’s 2nd or 3rd guy and taking the appropriate pay cut?). But a few super teams is good for business, imo, instead of each team only having one all-star level guy.
