  1. Only an idiot wouldn’t want Almora batting at the top of the order vs RHP
  2. They aren't trading us Machado (and Britton and IFA money) for Caratini, Bote, minor league pitching fodder, and some other minor prospects. Sorry, but he's going to get a better return than JD Martinez got last year. Baltimore does seem like a pretty dumb organization so they might prioritize big-league ready prospects like Bote over better prospects that are further away. I was mostly joking. Their return is still going to be relative garbage though and “even better than Martinez” still has a lot of room to be a horsefeathers return.
  3. Addy is Dongin’ tonight on either a high FB or hanging curve and also will make at least one play at SS, probably more, that Machado is not capable of making.
  4. I like Bote and would like to keep him, but I honestly wonder if the Orioles would really like him? He can play all over the IF (probably some OF too), is cheap and seems like he could be a second division starter for them. They lose Machado this year and Schoop is a FA after next year so they have IF holes. Maybe him and some lotto ticket arm would be enough for the full money?
  5. Boy are their expectations going to be shattered with the end return. He’s not going to bring back much more than JD Martinez last year, which was 3 very average prospects and only 1 was top 100 (but not 50, iirc). If we get him it honestly going to be something hilarious like Caritini, Bote, Hatch (or whatever the hell minor league pitching fodder they want) and some low level lottery ticket. We’ll probably end up with Britton and IFA money too
  6. Almora batting at the top of the order vs RHP is suboptimal
  7. Lol. It seems like the fans and most of the writers have been a special kind of stupid lately [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Thanks TT, looking at the charts and reading the article then I guess I’m wrong a little about this year. But since this is basically the same offense as last year and looking at that chart my hunch was somewhat right that they pretty much have a normal distribution/variance/volatility/whatever when compared to other teams.
  9. Part of the narrative with the flood of Machado articles yesterday is the Cubs offense is too boom or bust. Which, I don't know if there's any information or metrics out there that are readily available that measures it but if I had to guess the Cubs offense is no more boom or busty than any other team. It's baseball and I'd venture to guess most teams land with more games between 0 to 3 runs and then 5-6+ runs than just consistently hitting around their average of 4-5 runs a game. I don't want to take the time to figure it all out but I'd bet if you took the time to do the mean, variance, SD of every team we'd rank in the middle or at the top of baseball for variance and most of our runs being within 1 SD of the mean and really aren't all that boom or bust relative to the league.
  10. During the Ohtani stuff, in which they were the one team who didn't do a bid/pitch, didn't they have some ridiculous comments come out about how they avoid international FA because reasons that were really stupid? Maybe they won't value that money at all. Also, could you just "buy" the money? Like could we just cut them a check for a few million for their IFA money? They seem like a team who might value real cash over prospects.
  11. The AL Central, AS A DIVISION, has a -187 RD. LOL.
  12. Not only is Bryce a better baseball player he’s also a better dresser and has better hair than Machado
  13. Reason 1 billion to never trust spring training. Even though I bought in to his suckage this spring.
  14. They’re a ~.500 team getting their hot streak out of the way early. They’re due for regression like the D’backs are on right now. Now maybe they’ve banked enough wins to get lucky and finish around 90 or more wins but I’d still bet on that water finding it’s level and them finishing low-mid 80s wins.
  15. Idk how they got out to the start they did, can’t say I was really paying attention to them but they suck. I know Pollock and some of the pitchers are hurt, but their roster is awful sucky right now.
  16. Looks like the VBs and Cards are both gonna win tonight
  17. #WeAreGood [tweet] [/tweet]
  18. Jesus horsefeathering Christ [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. Bryce and Machado will be in a reverse bidding war until Theo can sign both of them. Drafting superstar FA’s best friends on your team that clocks are 3-5 years behind in order for the superstar FAs to take discounts to play with their friends is thinking on a Sternsian level of 800-D chess
  20. Roberts had a comment the other day that this was the worst he’s ever seen Hill’s blister issue and now he’s out playing catch a few days later????
  21. I was thinking about that and Flaherty's most recent start today. They're still going to struggle to score runs with any consistency, but the Cardinals are going to have a monster rotation in 2019 and going forward. Just like the 2015 Mets
  22. Oh yeah. Idk if it was his big swing or camera work but I thought that ball was 10+ rows deep off the bat. My stomach sunk and then it was a foul ball like 20 ft behind 1B
