  1. That quote.......doesn't inspire me. Yeah...
  2. The sucky bunch of sucks sure did suck last night despite the Duker giving it his all to will a win with his gam thread powers. He’s not doing too well today Hopefully the super cubs return to make him feel better. Win idiots
  3. Yu did catch/long toss today and a 16 pitch bullpen session and Maddon said it went “well.” Evaluate how he feels tomorrow and go from there so I guess not bad news but who knows.
  4. It sounds like KB is fucked up https://twitter.com/carriemuskat/status/1021878076911824896?s=21
  5. Yeah I’m totally down with something like Almora, Underwood, Short/Ademan, Mekkes/Maples and another whatever prospect for Gausman and Britton https://twitter.com/gander_news_g3/status/1021852063758733317?s=21
  6. Lester/Hendricks/Q/Yu is the playoff rotation (in some order). Yu is gonna be back. you can make a case that he's been better than all of them this season. he's had control issues, but he keeps the ball in the park and he racks up strikeouts at a really healthy clip. he has easily the highest WAR and FIP of anyone in our rotation and all the targets mentioned recently (bundy, gausman, duffy, shields, ross, eovaldi, hamels), and xfip second only to eovaldi. i don't know who the odd man out would be, but i don't know how it could be wheeler outside of clubhouse politics reasons. Oh he certainly should be an option, just think he'd be an optimal bullpen guy in the playoffs to bullpen the horsefeathers out of games. He's already over 20IP from last year too, so a bullpen move would help keep him more fresh as well (you'd think).
  7. This is why I like Wheeler so much. He can start the rest of the year, he’s throwing mid 90s on the FB and 90 on the slider. Move him to the pen come playoffs and he likely gets a velo bump and could be a huge weapon for 1-2 inning bursts if we trade for him, i have a hard time seeing wheeler not being a part of our playoff rotation. 8. Given the emphasis on bullpens in the playoffs, I’d rather devote resources to the bullpen to make it as strong as possible for October. But I think the rotation has reached the point where we need to throw away some useless prospects to get a guy who will eat innings for the rest of the regular season. 9. I’m petrty sure I’d do Almora for Gausman and Britton. Especially if they feel getting out of the ALE and away from the Orioles pitching fuckery gives Gausman a bump. I’d prefer to go a different route (Wheeler). But I’d do that at the end of the day.
  10. Since no gam thread today yet, Maddon just on the score said no KB tonight and mentioned it was at least partially due to the shoulder........ Also get Bote back up here
  11. Yeah, Almora needs to run a crazy high BABIP to be more than a replacement level player and he doesn’t do a whole lot of things well. If we could find a team who just saw his shiny BA and and Edmonds catches and loved him I’d be all for trading him. I think this year is about his peak and what he does is very easily replaceable. He's got value on the current version of this team because even if you regress his numbers against lefties, they're still really good (especially compared to say, Schwarber's .668 OPS against lefties this year). If we go the Harper route next year, then yeah, he should be the odd man out. Almora is too valuable for any of the relievers on the market, but probably not enough to headline a package that gets us a frontline starter. I'm fine with him being the small side of a platoon and a Schwarber defensive replacement for the rest of the year. Yeah he’s carved out a role this year and he is useful, I’m not saying he isn’t. But a lot of his value is luck/unsustainable and I wouldn’t hesitate to trade him for the right offer (as opposed to not really being open to trade any other position player on the roster). I’d be willing to move him for “as little” as a RP this offseason when we get Bryce and then replace Almora with whatever RHH OF is available that always is like Maybin who can replace pretty much everything Almora does.

  13. Wheeler, Conley, Pressly, Gausman are the top 4 targets for me right now and I’d have Almora available for most of them as my top/highest piece along with any non-Amaya prospect. I agree about not really caring for Britton.
  14. What we thought the actual game would look like with this glorious game thread vs what the actual game looked like once Farrell got his hands on it
  15. Oh well, Farrell sucks and that was semi expected. Go win 4 of the next 6 going in to the off day next Monday.
  16. Yeah he’s not right. Hopefully he turns it on soon. Kinda crazy that slumping KB is still a league averageish hitter since he’ll still tak his walks.
  17. Jesus horsefeathering Christ Almora. I want him traded so bad.
  18. horsefeathering ridiculous, pitch him until his arm falls off. He’s worthless. Joe better not end up using any of the good bullpen arms.

  20. I think yes, at least so far. You hope this is only the beginning of breakout seasons coming up. He’s throwing like 6-10 MPH faster this year, that’s pretty huge and he seems to have good to great command at huge velocities. His ceiling has to be a TOR starter, 19 YO lefty throwing mid-upper 90s with what sounds like average-good breaking/offspeed walk rates being perfectly acceptable and K’ing a lot.
