Man, how is that even possible? If anything, I remember him as being even worse than he was. It made me so mad that Dusty kept him in the rotation all year. estes gave up 4 or more runs in 14 of his 29 starts as a cub. he walked 83 in those 29 starts. to compare, chatwood has given up 4 or more runs in 7 of his 19 starts and walked 85 in those 19 starts. estes had a bWAR of -1.3 in 2003 while chatwood has a current bWAR of 0.3. are estes and chatwood the worst cub starters of the past 20-25 years? Brian Matuz, Tseng and Farrell are all high for me because they were bad when we were trying/actually good. A good part of the last 20+ years we were just inept so I can’t blame people bad at their jobs for giving us a bad pitcher.
