  1. Willy hit that ball hard, that’s good to see
  2. Saw 94 a few times on the VBs broadcast, 93 on every other FB that wasn’t 94.
  3. The offseason moves were not great, but not because of the Morrow signing. It's because of the Darvish + Chatwood signings and how little we've gotten from them. Letting Wade Davis leave and signing Morrow was the right thing to do. I guess we could've traded for another Closer, but then we'd be losing prospects/players. Not so much of “Theo did bad” as it is “Everything turned out bad”. The Cubs spent more money than any other team in FA last year and due to injury or ineffective play, it’s likely that we will not see a single one of them in a playoff game Yeah process > results. Still fine with the process of the offseason, the results have sucked. Wish we would’ve aimed higher than Kintzler at the deadline if they knew at the time Morrow was unlikely to come back.
  4. Probably Strop since he’s like one of the 3 best relievers in franchise history and has been one of the ~20 best/most consistent relievers in MLB in the last 3 years. Yea but do you trust him to be that 6+ outs guy that needed from these closers in the playoff, and on back to back games?I trust him to be “the closer” and going back to back games. There’s very few, if any, 6+ out guys, even Morrow likely wasn’t that. We’re going to mostly rely on depth and matchups, which is fine but not ideal and obviously not having Morrow in any capacity has a residual effect which makes us worse.
  5. Probably Strop since he’s like one of the 3 best relievers in franchise history and has been one of the ~20 best/most consistent relievers in MLB in the last 3 years.
  6. They’re the West Coast Mets. This is like their third pitcher who was broken and they tried their magic elixirs on who ended up as broke or more broke anyways.
  7. http://www.mlb.com/images/5/4/8/292789548/083118_hamels_wave.gif he was almost as bad as Gio was when we got him. I know, I know, Arlington but still. Depending what they gave to Washington, Gio was worth taking a flyer on His peripheral numbers are nearly as bad as any of the worst pitchers we have in terms of K/BB rates, etc. his last 8 starts he has a mid 6 era, near 5 fip and over 5 xfip and given up 32 runs, 53 hits, 22 walks in 42 innings. Unless they thought an environment change like Hamels would fix him (don’t think Washington is extreme either way) or he’d change his pitch mix like Hamels idk what there is to like, he’s been quite bad this year and in the last 2 months. He also cleared waivers, so we could’ve gotten him. The VBs board are a bunch of prospect huggers but they think they gave up too much in the 2 prospects they sent I remember reading.
  8. Surprised no one wanted Mazzoni and that the Angels claimed Luke Farrell. I'm NOT surprised Z cleared waivers lol. Isn't Mazzoni hurt? He only had one outing between August 10th and the 28th. Not that a team wouldn't claim him but I think he has some sort of injury.
  9. Is Rizzo going to be able to play? Joe said postgame he’s playing tomorrow and is fine
  10. I want to se tomorrow.... Zobrist RF KB 3B Rizzo 1B Javy SS Murphy 2B Schwarber LF Willy C Happ CF Flip Zobrist and Murphy if you want but get the OBP guys ahead of Javy and Rizzo and I prefer Zobrist leading off slightly since Murphy has more power and Zobrist is better at getting on base.
  11. Go horsefeathers yourself, TBS
  12. At least we may have tricked Counsell in to thinking Knebel is good again and he’ll use him in leverage spots again soon
  13. Quantify it with where teams end up compared to their regular season projections. Most usually end up within a few games of their projections. That’s definitely not true. That was supposed to say “see if most”
  14. It usually mostly does “Usually” and “all” are not the same thing. And how could you even quantify that? I get the sentiment, but it’s just a thing people say. Quantify it with where teams end up compared to their regular season projections. Most usually end up within a few games of their projections.
  15. It’s baseball. The better team doesn’t always win. But it all evens out in the end. No, it doesn’t, Steve Stone. It usually mostly does
  16. They’ve been just slightly less bad and more lucky than us.
