  1. I really like Gonzalez he is one of the top 5 1B IMO. He can potentially be a FA after next year and with Lee's contract up next year I hope we can make a run at him. Gonzalez won't be a free agent til after 2011. According to http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/san-diego-padres.html he has a club option for 2011 @$5.5 Mil. I am assuming they will pick that up as that is a bargain for the production, but it's always possible the Padres try to save some money and let him go.

  3. Hank White just went deep to give the Fathers the lead 2-1 in the 5th. Peavy is also pitching FWIW for those with MLB.TV/EI and I think the game is on the MLBN also.
  4. Patton will probably get a chance to get into some higher leverage situations if guys continue to suck. He looked pretty good in Houston IMO.
  5. I agree, don't make him exclusively the closer, keep using him in the 6/7/8 to clean up messes and then let Gregg do it. If nobody struggles and we don't run into to any tight spots and Marmol is available in the 9th then use him. I would also probably be in favor of Gregg closing out most games in which we have a 3-4 run lead instead of using Marmol if both were available.
  6. :cray: I think almost after every team in MLB wins their OF comes together and they do some sort of celebration like that where they jump and high five/jump into eachother.
  7. Wow, Marmol hung two sliders there that should have been sent to Bernie's slide.
  8. I posted this in the IGT but it probably could be addressed here. I said that is should be something done in the offseason or spring, but maybe it's time Lee changes something in his stance. What that is IDK, but maybe closing up a little bit, moving his hands around, etc.
  9. I know it's something that should be addressed in the offseason/spring, but maybe it's time Lee changes something with his batting stance. Like close up his stance or move his hands up/down/closer or further from his body.
  10. Man whatever changes/adjustments Kosuke has made they sure are working.
  11. :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:
  12. If Lou feels he must use a lefthanded bat I would almost prefer he pinch hit Gathright and have him try to bunt for a hit than have Miles pinch hit and try to do anything.
  13. Great AB, at least it guarantees Fonzie a AB in the 9th if nothing comes of it.
  14. With the off day Tuesday and Marshall getting put into the rotation this time through he will get an extra day of rest before his next start.
  15. I don't know if this was brought up, didn't want to look through the pages for it, but IMO the offense needs to shoulder some blame here too. We had 16 baserunners (9H/7BB), with our offense that should have translated into 5+ runs, we should never been in that position at the end of the game where all it takes is one bad play or two that can make us lose a game. It didn't help that Theriot/Soriano had a couple awful defensive plays and the bullpen didn't shut the Brewers down but the amount of runners we got on we should have won that game in a blowout and not put ourself in a close game situation in the end.
  16. Not about Harang, but it probably doesn't need its own thread, Volquez pitched like 104-107 pitches in his first start and he didn't even get out of the 4th.
  17. if so, that is a really good start by carpenter Yeah looks very near his CY Young form of a few years ago, he could easily win 16-20 games this year if he stays healthy.
  18. Who the heck would be surprised that a 22 year old is still out at 12:30, gramps? And the fact it isn't all that late the game probably ended at what 10/10:30? He pitched last night and had a good game so I am sure he talked to a lot of press being a big prospect and all. Then take in time in the clubhouse after the game, talking to teammates and coaches/shower/change/ice/treatment. He probably didn't get out of there until 11:30 or so.
  19. You beat me to it. Stupid. Why pull the superior defender when you could move him to his natural position? Reporters asked Lou that the other night. He said Milton is a good outfielder and he won't be replacing him for defense. After some of the mistakes Fukudome made in CF towards the end of spring. I think Lou is little nervous about Fukudome defense in CF. But if he starts to do well I'm sure Lou will keep him in there. It's not that Bradley isn't a good fielder it's just that Kosuke is just a really good fielder and even better. Kosuke was probably one of the top defensive RF last year. Plus anytime you can get Bradley out of the game, even if it's just 1/2 an inning, it should help keep him fresh(er)/healthier.
  20. 21. Apparently he is on pace for only 554 Ks. Well Mike Cameron liked that pitch
  22. I am watching the MIL/SF game and Randy Johnson is dealing, apparently he has learned a changeup.
