  1. Sweet plays Cleveland.
  2. What a terrible ruling, it's not like he ran out of bounds to avoid the defender and then came back. He was pushed out. NFL should look into changing that ruing in that situation.
  3. So what site(s) do people use to bet? I was thinking about opening an account on one, but I don't know which ones are the best, have a good reputation, etc. I heard about this site from a buddy and it looks pretty respectable, bookmaker.com
  4. I'm honestly not sure what a fair return is for a shortstop who averaged a 5.5 WAR in his age 23-25 seasons and is still just 26. I was just suggesting that Lilly and Theriot is not fair value for that kind of player. it most certainly is not. maybe if lilly were 30 and had 3-4 years of team-friendly contract left, and theriot were better and younger than he is. but theriot is average at best and lilly has one more year left on his contract. fwiw, fangraphs ranked reyes as having the 20th-highest trade value back in july. i'm thinking that theriot and lilly were a long way from making that list. True, but there are likely other variables at work if they decide to trade him. You have to remember that there are reports that the Mets Fo isn't happy with him, the owner losing a ton of money and needing to shed payroll, and Reyes is coming off a calf/hamstring injury. Lilly would be a pretty valuable pitcher for them pitching half his games in that stadium. Theriot is a cheap replacement for them. If we offered to pay some of Lilly's salary and throw in Fox and Carpenter or Flaherty we might be able to get a deal done.
  5. I really hope they shop him around this offseason. I would think we could at least get a dependable bullpen arm or a decent prospect for Theriot and a low level prospect or cash.
  6. I like Tenn +6 tomorrow and over 35
  7. That's my opinion. Marmol will be better next year, we have a lot of internal options for bullpen help. Stevens, Gaub, Cashner (mid season), Guzman, Marshall, Grabow, Samaradzija. We can add a cheap FA or two and there are always guys available during the season through trades, waivers, rule V, etc. Don't spend money on an area where we can at least be league average, when we have areas that are in need of much more important upgrades when we will presumably have a limited budget this offseason.
  8. Having Brady and Anderson on that team is detrimental IMO. It's even worse that they have waited this long into the offseason/start of the season to name one a starter. There has to be little to no continuity on that team and overall low confidence between players there, as they don't know who the "guy" is and probably both Brady and Quinn have guys on their side and against them in that lockeroom.
  9. There are a lot of intriguing 2B for next year, and if Hendry is smart enough/has enough patience. He should be able to find a good bargain on the FA market between Dero, Figgins, Lopez, Iwamura and Hudson. One of those guys, if not multiple, will probably be around all winter and be able to be had on a 1 year deal.
  10. Usually it takes me a while to get into the NFL season. Normally NCAA Football keeps me more entertained the until end of October or early November. But this year NCAA seems pretty boring to me and the NFL has me jacked.
  11. I see you only got half the story there. Jake Peavy, Brian Roberts and Jose Reyes were singing the chorus as well. 2010 HERE WE COME!!!!
  12. So where can we be expecting some of the top prospects to start the year off next year? Also which ones are playing some sort of fall/winter ball? Vitters- Daytona Castro- Tennessee J. Jackson-Iowa Cashner-Iowa? Lee-Peoria Burke-Daytona? Maybe Tennessee? B. Jackson- Daytona Carpenter- Daytona Huesby-?
  13. This. And assuming the budget gets increased, I could see a run at John Lackey coming. Or perhaps some salary dumps to make that happen. I could see a run at Lackey, but I really see us way over paying for Valverde, Soriano or Rodney.
  14. Reyes at SS and Theriot at 2nd or Theriot to somewhere else? My honest guess is that as much as Lou and Hendry seem to love Theriot, he'd almost have to be part of the deal. Maybe something like Theriot/Vitters/Wells/Carpenter/Fox for Reyes? The Mets need cheap, ready to play in the majors talent and sending them Theriot, Wells, and Fox could fill 3 holes for them immediately. Or the Mets don't want to pay him super long term and would take Zambrano and Fox for him. That would be awesome. Reyes SS Bradley RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Kosuke CF Soriano LF Soto C Theriot 2B Not terrible. Of course, on a message board, our current lineup looks sufficient. I would rather trade Lilly than Z. Lilly probably has more value this offseason than Z. I'd do a Lilly/Theriot/Fox/Huesby/minor leaguer for Reyes. Then the ideal situation would be to then sign Felipe Lopez or Orland Hudson on a 1-2 year deal to play 2B. Reyes SS Hudson/Lopez 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Bradley RF Soriano LF Kosuke CF Soto C.
  15. I fear the media's/idiot fans hatred of Bradley is going to force Hendry and the Cubs front office to trade Bradley in the offseason for a low A player and a PTBNL. Bradley is far from the problem of the team. I would say the overall under performances of Z, Harden (first half), and Dempster, a complete sham of a bullpen, no 2B to be found, Aram on the DL for a good chunk of the season, Soriano and Soto performing like little leaguers and Aaron Miles getting time on the 25-man easily overtake anything Bradley has/hasn't done this season. But of course everyone expects to have Pujols like production at every position, and of course the easiest scape goat of the 09' Cubs is Milton Bradley because he "stole" money from the Cubs, is hurt all the time, has a bad reputation in the public perception (that he is somewhat responsible for), and is the easy guy to pick on because he is a very unlikeable guy in the ESPN/Mainstream media culture of fans who are fucks. Don't tell anyone, but take away his 08' season and Milton is performing near his career averages this year. But lets just completely overlook Z, Harden, Dempster, Miles, Fontenot, Soto, Soriano (finally starting to get some criticism the last month or so), a bullpen, manager, and GM competing and performing under expectations. And MILTON BRADLEY IS THE CLEAR CAUSE FOR THE 09 FAILURE THAT IS THE CHICAGO CUBS AND NOBODY ELSE IS TO BLAME

  17. What was Kosuke in RF last year? I thought it was a +. I was expecting his defense to suffer, shifting to CF, but not to go down to a - defender.
  18. FREE GEO!!! (There is no reason to be playing Hill if Soto is healthy. Hill is what he is and we all know what Soto is capable of)
  19. The booing, if Milt doesn't come through here, will be relentless. And I would hold it against Bradley to stroll out to the bleachers and thoroughly whoop everyones ass out there.
  20. HAHA I was expecting .335 BA 1.112 OPS 57 HR 148 RBI in 158 games played. and an unanimous vote for NL MVP, and GG in RF. But seriously I was expecting .285-.290 BA .390+OBP .860-.900 OPS 18-24 HR 75-85 RBI and I was actually expecting him to miss more time to injuries
  21. I personally think this is a great idea! Way to go NC. I'm not sure why more teams don't do that. Can someone find out what percentage the Cubs would have to pay if they released him by the first deadline? I looked but couldn't find it. I assume Gregg would get around $4,000,000 in arbitration. A first round pick and a compensation pick seem to be worth a million dollar risk to me. (Of course, it's not my money!) It also could end up a 2nd or 3rd rounder depending on how many FA's that team signs. Gregg's getting 4.2M this year, he'll make at least 5 in arbitration. Agreed Gregg will probably be looking for somewhere around 5.5-7M.
  22. SEASON OVER. Put the whole effin' team on waivers and see if we can get something for one of these stiffs.
