  1. June OPS: 1.151 edit: I mean april. Stupid of me
  2. I'm not sure why you're expecting the players to play up to their ability day in and day out for 162 games. It's not going to happen. It never has and it never will. All players go through slumps. It happens. It was a fluky stretch and it's not a big deal at all. which makes it even more unlikely teams without a similar stretch (all the ones I've looked over so far): Angels, Boston, Brewers, Cubs outside of the current one. Of course it's not a big deal. It's very unusual.
  3. The Cubs are also a better offensive team than the Rays. Every team has days where they don't hit. I don't care how good of an offense you have. That's how baseball is. Still, you don't get a lot of 20 game stretches where you have no losses where your team scored more than two and no wins where you scored less than 5. You do when your starting pitching has been solid. Cubs runs allowed in the losses: 2, 4, 2, 9, 3, 3, 3, 2. If the Cubs had scored 5 runs in each of those games, they would have gone 7-1 in that stretch. Do you not see that when you keep adding "if this happens" statements something becomes increasingly unlikely? I added one hypothetical "If" in my last post. Not sure how that constitutes repeated "If this happens" statements. Like I said. Every team is going to have their peaks and valleys offensively and defensively. The Cubs have gotten pretty good starting pitching since the All-Star Break. It's not always going to be like that. The offense has been slightly inconsistent since the All-Star Break but as I said, every single team is like that. It's just going to be a little more dramatic with the Cubs because they have such a potent offense (2nd in the majors with 615 runs scored). While a team like San Diego (432 runs) or San Francisco (436 runs) is also going to have some peaks and valleys, they aren't going to be nearly as dramatic because they suck offensively. The Cubs have a very good, well-rounded lineup but that doesn't mean that they aren't susceptible to poor offensive days. It's not a big deal. If your team has great pitching and if it has a great offense and if they both perform up to their ability then it might happen. It's not common. I'll be busy brute-force looking through team records to see if I can find any like it this season (So far I can say the Angels have come nowhere close to one

  6. Wait, so you're telling me the Cubs score more runs in wins than they do in losses? Shocking, I tell you. The Cubs are 12-8 since the All-Star Break. That is what's important. Yup but there are several ways you can analyze how they are losing. They have been slightly inconsistent offensively. That's how every team is. I picked the Rays randomly. In wins: 2, 6, 4, 4, 5, 5, 3, 3, 5, 9, 6, 8, 10. In losses: 4, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1. The rays have 3 wins below 4 runs. The cubs have a 3 run gap between their closest win and loss.
  7. Looper was almost hit in the knee on a squeeze bunt, couldn't make contact, and an easy out at home
  8. pixie dust. So he stole it from the Cardinals clubhouse before getting traded, but he only has a limited amount so he saved it for only him and a little for Mike Fontenot. Not like Fontenot could need much
  9. Usually Cards Talk at stltoday.com. I HATE CHICAGO wrote What a pathetic traitor
  10. I cannot believe how good he's been for us
  11. Theriot's deal with the devil apparently expired a few days ago
  12. Hey I'm over there! We need to find a way to announce that Windy City Football is back. I really think it serves a good purpose. I still think we should consolidate them (the Bulls site too) all into one mega NSBB site... Having all the subforums (like a separate Social subforum) over there makes no sense... Yep, make this the Chicago Sports Magnet site (minus Sox)
  13. the color announcer just said that the Favre trade could turn into the Ruth to the Yankees trade. Someone has to stop this madman
  14. What? he's so much better than he was then, it's ridiculous. He couldn't hit the broad side of a barn then, he's actually sorta accurate now
  15. Uverse: 2 WGN HD channels (local and national) but no CSN HD. Doh
  16. Interesting to see the fans at wrigley not going after latroy at all. Guess the hate has faded
