  1. Also... Cardinals staff xFIP: 3.50 Cubs staff xFIP: 3.39 Cardinals staff ERA: 2.65 Cubs staff ERA: 3.59 btw - the second "luckiest" staff near the top of the leaderboard? The pirates at ERA: 2.83 xFIP: 3.40 Wish there was a good way to quantity defense and its impact on ERA vs. xFIP. Then, we could prove the Cubs have a large (or small*) PDIP (Pixie Dust Independent Pitching), while the Pirates and Reds are very low (or high*). *I'm not sure if it would be a good thing to have a high or low PDIP.
  2. I just want to remind everybody that it is mid-June and we are not bad. Watching Cubs games and feeling like they actually matter has been missing from all of our lives for a long, long time. #WeAreGood
  3. 4 games versus Cleveland and we're not facing Kluber! It's not like he's been nails all year, but I shudder to think what that K total would be.
  4. And we were really really close to a fourth one as well.
  5. Well that was fun. 28 1-run games in 61 games... Heart can't take this.
  6. No matter what reliever may lose this game for us, this loss (game not over yet, Schlitter induces double plays I'm told) will be on our horrific offensive display.
  7. Maddon's strategy is to give himself the best chance to win now in extra inning potential situations. I completely agree with that strategy. Over the course of the season putting your best foot forward for innings 9-11 is probably going to lead to you winning more games in innings 9-11 than losing in innings 12+.
  8. i actually don't think any of the 3 challenges were reversible by those standards I'm with you except ESPN showed one shot that they stopped on the first play at home they clearly showed the tag before Phillips touched the plate. They only showed it once and it was after the play had been reversed.
  9. It's pretty awesome we have to pinch hit for the SP to get a sac bunt down when he definitely has another inning in him.
  10. Jay Bruce is single-handling keeping the Cubs from sweeping the Reds and he's not even doing anything at the plate
  11. Hamilton leading off next inning. I feel like if he gets on he scores. If I were Price I would bunt Hamilton (right back to Lester), steal 2nd and 3rd and then squeeze him in.
  12. We got to 7 over once, right? EDIT: Nope. In my mind we had, but that was before Goldschmidt hit that bomb. Something something chickens hatching before counting.
  13. Cubs got hits or HBP from 6 of 7 hitters in the 8th and 9th.
