  1. His AAA K-rate was really bad, too. And historically, high K-rates in the minors are really bad signs even if the OPS is still high. We're hoping that his extremely young age balances that out. I know its manipulating statistics to make me a koolaid drinking happy Cubs fan but what did Javy's K-rate look like after his abysmal start in AAA? I just remember following the ML game threads and it seemed for awhile he was definitely striking out less (not to say he was still anywhere near a good K-rate though). Did he have any prolonged period of a non disgusting K-Rate in AAA? Or, was it more like a good couple weeks where he struck out a little less than usual?
  2. What was Javy's K rate in Triple A? I know he looked bad in the majors but he looked bad in AA and AAA first too. Wasn't he pretty damn good for a long stretch in AAA this year? It's not like he has only dominated A ball, shouldn't there be a decent amount of optimism for Javy considering the adjustments he's made in AA/AAA before?
  3. With understanding that hockey is terrible. Hockey isn't terrible, now the NBA is hot garbage. I find it funny that people that hate hockey find the NBA entertaining. Its like the people who hate an unknown Italian bistro but love Olive Garden. This. The NBA has basically become a tennis match between star players (small minority of teams excepted). Half the guys only try half the time. I agree. Take me back to the old days when the non superstar fundamentally sound players like Bird, Magic, and Jordan won titles. Superstars didn't matter then! I'm so sick of Kawhi Leanord and the Spurs dominating the league with their selfish basketball.
  4. Scherzer & Harper to closeout the offseason..
  5. Only if we don't have to give up Bryant or Russell. Or Soler. I'd do a 3 for 1.. Trout and their best 2 prospects for Soler seems fair.
  6. Harper AND Zimmerman? Okay lol    Washington Post reporter tweeted this: Just GIVE him to us, disband, and go back to Montreal you chumps!
  7. https://twitter.com/aballer53141 I'm not great with twitter but this guy claims to have a source in the Cubs front office that says they are in discussions with the Nats for Harper.. I'm doubting it lol
  8. They could beat anyone if they wanted, the only thing they may have a hard time with would be if the Nats were requiring big time pitching prospects. But still, our hitting prospects>any teams pitching prospects. I do think the Cubs would be in the premier position but which teams could be our biggest competition? I havent followed the farm system around the league as much lately.
  9. Cubs luck they would trade Bryant, Russell, and Soler for him and this would happen opening night at Wrigley..
  10. I could definitely see the headliner being Russell or Bryant and then followed with a combination of Alcantara, Almora, CJ Edwards, Schwarber maybe one of the young high potential guys that they signed from IFA last year.
  11. I feel more than likely it would have to be a market that could afford Harper and also Harper would have to want to resign there. Teams I'm thinking of are the Cubs, Boston, the Yanks, Dodgers, Angels, and Rangers.. maybe a Giants, Cardinals, or Tigers. Do any of those teams have near the ammo the Cubs have in this situation? Who would be the hardest team to beat if this actually was going down?
  12. Instead of answering the crazy question of why we would want Bryce Harper I will pose another question. I doubt Harper will be made available but if the Nationals were idiots and he was... What teams in baseball could even conceivably land Harper and also want to do the deal for themselves.... would any team be in better position than the Cubs? For example off the top of my head the Angels could trade Trout for Harper but I don't think they would want to do the deal themselves. The Twins could put together a very impressive package for Harper but I doubt they would feel confident that Harper would resign there. I don't see them consolidating all their prospects for a guy that very realistically could bolt or will cost 300m with Boras as his agent.
  13. I'd pack his bags for Harper. One in the hand is worth two in the bush (I think Bryant has a high floor but he could very easily not end up a star). He does K a lot... Plus Harper is younger.. i'd imagine he would have put a pretty good hurting on triple A pitching this year too..
  14. I dont have all the advanced stats in front of me but my guess is if you put together a list of comparable players in baseball history with Harper's production at that young of an age a good portion of them are in the HOF now or damn near close. On top of that Harper's tool's/ceiling is even more dynamite than his pretty good stats for someone that age would dictate.
  15. If they demanded say Rizzo and Russell would you even turn that down? I'd try *really* hard to get them to ask for something else because it's awfully late in the year to be finding another 1b. But the value doesn't bother me. Then the Rise of Vogelbachhhhhhhhhhhhh!
  16. If they demanded say Rizzo and Russell would you even turn that down?
  17. Now I want to sign Shields just to [expletive] these teams again. Only if the Cardinals get really interested in too!
  18. I swear to god and I completely mean it that I will never, ever say one bad thing about the front office on any Cubs-related web site ever again if we acquire Bryce Harper this offseason. I'm not saying... but I'm just saying.... Bryce Harpers last tweet was... "The Cubbies coming in hot!!!" # MLB
  19. For Bryce Harper they can have their choice of 2 of Russell, Bryant, Baez and Soler. Yeah, even if it was Russell and Bryant just imagining a middle of the order with of 2 through 6 of Castro, Harper, Rizzo, Soler, Baez makes me drool. At that point sign Headley and go out with CF Alcantara SS Castro RF Harper 1B Rizzo LF Soler 3B Headley C Montero 2B Baez P - Pitcher Gawddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
  20. Give him to us. And i'm not talking about Zimmerman. This place would spontaneously combust. And seriously, we're one of only a handful of teams that could pull it off. Harper, Zimmerman, Rendon for Castro, Baez, Alcantara, Cj Edwards, and Pierce Johnson ;)
  21. Not news but its always funny to see what Boras says at the winter meetings. Also... Not sure what that means.. Theo is pissing in Lucchino's pool..
  22. Doing the daytime gig, friend. Last night was fun. I drank a few beer city brews in celebration. I forget who it was exactly, but I'll claim my Chicagoland beer sometime this summer! All Hail NoCode and Pearl Jam!
  23. Also saw today that the Cubs have a flexible pay schedule with Lester. Essentially each year isn't a set amount but they can defer payment some years and pay him more in current years subject to what the Cubs plan to do with the payroll that year. Supposedly it is pretty unconventional and Lester only agreed to it because of his relationship with Theo/Hoyer.
  24. WAY too much. I saw Shark at the Cubs convention a couple of years ago. Emerged right after they announced his arb agreement - and he was pissed. It sucks that it didn't work out with him, he got a real nice signing bonus and endured all the crap. Now that it's all seeming to come together, it seems that he got out at the wrong time. Shark seemed pissy about the Cubs FO on Espn Radio today.
