  1. It's very hard to injure blubber. A 120 mph line drive off the elbow?? Or is there too much fat accumulated in his elbow?? His elbow is well padded too.

  3. Z is going to pitch every game the rest of the year...or until injured.
  4. (AP) Washington DC. The Chicago Cubs announced Sunday July 23, 2006 that they have have placed the whole organization on the 15 day disabled list retroactive to April 3, 2006.
  5. We should sign this Soriano over the winter. I hear he can hit.
  6. Agreed. We should allow the opposing teams to clog the bases. It can only help us by increasing the possibility of them becoming confused on the basepaths. Baseclogging underway. That ball in the bleachers sure unclogged them. Dusty is so dang stupid he probably thinks the walk didn't score on the HR. Dusty needs to go manage the Nats, 4 walks in 3+ innings---no fundamentals being taught in DC. It takes a great manager to get your pitchers to give walks while your hitters refuse to take them. It's quite an accomplishment.
  7. Well the homer kind of foils the baseclogging strategy.

  9. I haven't watched the Cubs much the last week. Is Walker benched in favor of the youngster Perez, the future?
  10. Len just said it will most likely be Hill to take Marshalls spot. He went 8 innings last night with 14 K's.
  11. I just wonder if Ramirez sucking while Lee was out had anything to do with the fact any pitcher in his right mind would not give him anything to hit? If Pujols didn't have hitters around him to protect him he wouldn't be hitting like he does either.
  12. How can you suggest shutting Lee down in the middle of a wildcard race? [/sarcasm]
  13. I agree with most of this. He looks really frustrated out there. I agree as well. Wouldn't it be nice, if just once one of our rookie hitters improved as they got more playing time, rather than regress. It's very hard not to point fingers at the coaching staff when the youngsters come up and look more lost than when they first arrived. Isn't it the coaching staff's job to do something to remove that lost look on a rookies face? BINGO!!! Post of the CENTURY!
  14. My grandfather was born in 1890 and personally told me about the back to back world series by the Cubs. He's been dead since 1976 though. I have no reason to believe he was lying to me.
  15. Sammy Sosa in his likeable prime.
  16. I'd like to see the Cubs get a prospect for Walker because he does not fit into any plans the Cubs have for next year. However, many more games like last night and his value will be zero. Hendry needs to trade him fairly quickly.
  17. That was hilarious. "That can't be true. I'm gonna check that. Those stats are wrong sometimes." And Morgan was right as Jones is 1-24 with an 0-2 count and 1-55 after an 0-2 count.
  18. Mmm. That would require scoring runs against a soft tossing lefty. That's quite a stretch. Well if we get swept by the Stros, I can't imagine Baker being here much longer than that. It would boggle the mind! Preprare to be boggled.
  19. Pujols is batting .195 for his career with an 0-2 count.
  20. Apparently not about double negatives! I agree. It would be nice to have a manager that can speak in public with at least halfway proper English. Everytime he opens his mouth he sounds like an idiot.
  21. Z missed most of spring training due to Bud Selig's ill-timed WBC competition.
  22. Definitely the latter. He's coming down with coreypattersonitis.
  23. The odd part of the Oswalt play is, as he is rounding first, you really can't tell if his foot hit the bag on the homeplate side or not but the Astro 1B coach is pointing at 1B like he missed the bag but Oswalt kept going. There is no way the 1B umpire can see if he touched the front of the bag or not because he is on the RF side of the bag but he did see the 1b Coach pointing at the bag. The Cards appeal and the ump calls him out. Basically the 1B coach told the ump Oswalt missed first. And there was no argument from Oswalt, the 1B coach, or Garner. Oh yeah, Lidge is really sucking lately too. He got beat by Eckstein, Taguchi, and Miles Sunday and Saturday he blew the save by giving up a homer to Spezio and then a game tying RBI by Miles. Aaron "freaking" Miles! However I agree with the others on the 8 1/2 games ahead of us, world series in our lifetime, etc. I'm not going to shed any tears for the poor Astro fans.
  24. Yesterdays game is going to give Glendon another 10 starts or so. At least 9 of which he will suck mightily.
  25. I agree mostly...it's got to get old when you are being asked about it 50 times a day and the players really have no inside info for the reporters. Plus what does the media think Eyre is going to say? "Yeah, fire the filthy bum!" The one part of what Eyre said that I don't agree with though is: What was hurting the teams ability to play back in May before the controversey of Dusty's job status arose?
