  1. All the hand wringing over Derrick not "recruiting" is silly. Melo is not going to make his decision based on whether Derrick is picking him up from the airport or not. No use stressing over it.
  2. Apparently it was a monster shot that hit a light tower in RF. Here's the video, but it's nearly worthless due to bad camera work. All you see is the RF not even bothering to to turn around until after the ball hits the tower. The Colorado Springs announcers seemed duly impressed, though. I thought it was perfectly shot. The reaction from the right fielder was priceless.
  3. Given the way the two teams were constructed last year, the fact that the Bulls lost their superstar for the season, and that Thibs was forced to play offensively limited players long minutes... wouldn't you expect the Bulls to have terrible PERs? I'm not sure what you're saying, shouldn't the Bulls have terrible PERs because they weren't very good? That's the problem, and a rather chicken-egg one. The only guy that really nosedived was Boozer, and he's old and broken-down. I honestly have no idea what to expect from Rose, or what to do about him. Well... yeah. That was my point. Didn't you read the second part of my post? The part you didn't quote? You're trying to compare this year's Bulls team with this year's Spurs team. I, on the otherhand, am trying to compare this year's Spurs team with a potential Bulls roster that includes additions not named Carmelo, LeBron, and Love.
  4. His touch is horrendous. He's given Germany the ball in midfield at least 3 times.
  5. It's a shame how much of a target Bradley has been for criticism from the casual fan. I can't believe how tenacious he's been pressuring Germany's backline. I wonder if the amount of energy he's been expending has had an effect on his touch, or if it's just been mental lapses.
  6. Given the way the two teams were constructed last year, the fact that the Bulls lost their superstar for the season, and that Thibs was forced to play offensively limited players long minutes... wouldn't you expect the Bulls to have terrible PERs? I don't expect last year's team +Rose to win a title. I like the idea of adding a Stephenson or Ariza along with Mirotic. I love the idea of adding Love/James/Anthony. Will I be disappointed with the former scenario? Sure, but I think it's a team that could compete depending on how well Mirotic actually plays.
  7. And all of that will result in never winning a title unless they get another FA superstar. Congrats on getting the respect of other owners and the media, though. I can't believe that the 'we need a superstar' sentiment is still so strong after watching the Spurs easily handle the Heat. Sure, the Spurs have Parker, Duncan, and Leonard, but those three are not on the same level as LeBron and Melo (especially at Parker and Duncan's age). I'm not trying to say the Bulls are better off without a LeBron/Love/Anthony, but to act like it's the only way they can win is close minded. The Spurs are also coached by the best head coach in American sports, and run by one of the best FOs in the same. Saying, "just be like the Spurs!" is pretty silly. Thibs isn't exactly the Mike Quade of the NBA. Look, I'm not saying the Bulls = the Spurs. I'm saying you don't need a situation like Miami's to win championships. Is that really such a ridiculous thought? Or can it only be done in San Antonio, Mr. Basketball Authority?

  9. It would be nice if he started going strong. He kinda has. He has an .857 OPS in June.
  10. As a secondary idea to all these LeBron and Melo fantasies, how come Trevor Ariza is never brought up as a possible acquisition? The guy has a good reputation defensively and is a capable scorer. He had a great year last year. He's actually pretty similar to Luol Deng (just a notch below Deng though). I'm not great with the cap and trade restrictions of the NBA, but if the Bulls were able to land Love and bring Ariza on, I would be thrilled with the potential of such a team. Hell, if they can't land Love and are only able to bring Mirotic over, that would probably work too. It would be disappointing of course, but I think they would still be the best Bulls team since Jordan.
  11. It's really easy, but Ghana was drunk with power I don't think it's easy. When you consider the fact that you can't just put it on a spot. You have to consider your trajectory. You don't want to give a defender an opportunity to easily strike the ball out of the goal box. You also can't just drop it in there or else the keeper will get to it first. It's easy to pass or loft a ball to a spot on the ground. It's not so easy to put it to a spot in mid air and do it with a specific trajectory.
  12. I was happier to see him give up 3 runs and 0 BB than the other way around.
  13. And so it begins http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v33325603/sfstl-taveras-launches-a-solo-shot-for-first-hit I'm scared to death he's going to be a left handed Pujols.
  14. I don't have a great eye for hockey, but I feel like Crawford has been hung out to dry a LOT in this series. I'm seeing a lot of Kings camping out in front of Crawford with little intervention.
  15. Hater. Happy to see it. I would love to see him get those walks down thoguh.
  16. It's disappointing pitcher day! (besides Blackburn).
  17. Loosen does this every year. I wonder if he struggles to find his release point and when he finally does, he lights the world on fire. That would seem to make sense given his up and down history. I hold out hope that he is more productive in relief. The guy obviously has the stuff to be an effective MLB pitcher, the consistency seems to be lacking though.
  18. If he's brought up, I want him starting. there's no one to replace. i guess maybe if arrieta bombs. That's what I'm thinking. Wada should stay at AAA starting until that happens though.
  19. If he's brought up, I want him starting.
  20. well now you ruined scarey's whole point I meant it in the nicest possible way. I'm sure he didn't take it personally, as he's been a dick for a long, long time. Stannis is just pissy because he got stuck w Dragonstone and a bossy redhead. Wait... I'm confused. Am I the dick? Or is Stannis? Or are both of us? I didn't even know I made enough noise around here to be given a reputation like that.
  21. I don't care about Sosa. I care when someone makes an unfair comparison. Frohman gave his opinion on the subject, and it was against the grain of everyone else's opinion. I would say that's not being a dick compared to telling someone to go [expletive] themselves. Can you see how those two things are different? Frohman made an impassioned idiotic post and got called out on it. Then you pretended you were too cool for school while contributing to the length of a thread you were baffled could be this long, before exposing yourself as a liar. So you admit, that he just made an impassioned idiotic post and was not being a dick? Good day sir.

  23. Decent points, try not being such a [expletive]. Says the guy who went nuts on this topic earlier. He didn't tell anyone to go [expletive] themselves...
  24. I'm pretty baffled that people adamant enough about Sosa to make an 8 page thread about all this. Does it help the Cubs win? No? http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-sports-media-watch/files/2013/04/jay-cutler-meme.jpg
