  1. lol wtf I know it's a stupid notion and one start should have zero effect on his trade value, but giving the other GMs anything to point at is a bad idea.
  2. Yeah just keep the trade piece out there to get lit up, brilliant managing.
  3. Can we just offer him a contract and throw him over at 3B please?
  4. The unfortunate side effect of using the vast majority of your valuable picks on pitchers outside the 1st round. There's no way they can do that strategy again in 2015 or the farm is going to be hurting badly for position specs in the long term.
  5. If one were to read into the fact that Alcantara has played a game in CF, would the most logical reason be that there have been team's asking about Bonifacio in trade talks? I assume it's because they see Baez as the long term 2B.
  6. Yeah I'm not seeing the problem. It sounds like if the MRI is good tomorrow he can start throwing again.
  7. Is Nola's change up really only a 50-60 on most people's boards? I had heard a few people say he had the best one in the draft. If so, that's really disappointing.
  8. I wouldn't do it with Javy, but I'd feel pretty decent about locking up Bryant so that he could be on the 2015 opening day roster. Seems kind of ridiculous to keep him in the minors for a full year more.
  9. 2015 and forward is going to be some really exciting baseball. Hell I kind of want Alex Jackson just so Cubs can blow away every other team in the power department.
  10. This draft has been so vastly different than the last two. Two years ago we pretty much knew we were taking Almora by this point and last year we knew it would be 1 of 3. This year it could end up being 1 of about 10 different guys and I wouldn't be the least bit shocked. I just have no idea what to expect and the draft is only 8 days away.
  11. Tell that to Gato who still wants him at #4
  12. That's about all I'd be willing to pay for him too. He has been miserable the last two years and barely played over 100 games in 2012. He's also definitely a corner outfielder at this point.
  13. Just like I figured would happen, Gausman is now basically equal to Samardzija over on OH. Jeff Samardzija who is a 4-4.5ERA pitcher in the mighty AL East.
  14. God, let's hope Bryant provides more value than Burrell did. Best season of 4.3fWAR and 2.8fWAR being second best thanks to some absolutely horrific defense. I'm also not quite ready to believe that Bryant is a .250-.255BA guy as a pro.
  15. O's are in need a closer type as well as a SP. Britton is more valuable as a guy who can induce double plays and go multiple innings. What type of return would you need to ship Rondon over with Samardzija? You'd still have future closer candidates in Vizcaino,Rivero and Ramirez.
  16. Troy Glaus output from Bryant in the current MLB offensive environment would more than suffice. For sure. Troy's 2000 line of .284/.404/.604 with 47HR would be like an 7 or 8 fWAR season even with relatively neutral defense at 3B.
  17. What I can't figure out why they think the NL Central is the worst division in the NL. They sent 3 teams to the playoffs last year including the WS representative.
  18. Yeah OH is huge on, "well if he were in the AL east he wouldn't be any good" justification. What I do know for certain is that the O's current rotation is not going to win a WS. With Hardy and Cruz gone after this year and Wieters and Davis' contracts ending the year after, you'd think they would be in win now mode. They certainly can't afford to resign them all.
  19. I was over on OH last week and told them it would cost something like Bundy+Harvey+Competitive balance pick and they didn't really like that. With that said, that's pretty much my ideal package at the moment. I'm not huge on Gausman, the fastball is way too straight and he can't locate it half the time.
  20. That sign is the epitome of why I can't stand Cardinal fans. Even in the rare moment that they give a compliment to something out of their organization, they still find a way to suck themselves off in the process. Irritating as hell.
  21. Vitters is kind of premature, no? He's 24 and while any dreams of him being an everyday guy are pretty much dead I could still see him latching on somewhere for a couple years. Perhaps playing the Tyler Colvin role for some organization.
  22. What's the deal with Colorado's Eddie Butler? There's pretty much a consensus that this guy is one of the top 10 SP prospects in the game, but his K rate is just horrible. All the other peripherals look fine, but 5.06K/9 is going to get him killed in Coors right? His 2013 numbers were more in line with what I was expecting. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=572750
  23. How big of a prospect is Joc Pedersen considered? 15-20 range would be my guess at this point, but his K rate has taken a significant jump this year.
  24. Yeah, that was the babip gods being unkind there. I didn't think Arrieta pitched poorly at all, especially when you consider he was getting squeezed.
