  1. Congratulations, you just gave up prospects for a guy who isn't any better than a pitcher you have sitting in AAA. Way to go Cubs.
  2. It seems almost impossible for me to imagine us outbidding the Dodgers for Price. The Cubs likely wont have to. in 2016 the Dodgers will have the following Kershaw,Wood,Ryu,Anderson. They aren't going to grab both Price and Greinke just to shove a low 3ERA pitcher like Ryu out the door.
  3. It makes me think it's going to take Javy+Underwood+Eloy which would absolutely suck.
  4. Norris an MLB ready top 10-15 prospect in baseball, so Schwarber would be his closest comp. Boyd, at least to me, is a slightly better Pierce Johnson.
  5. Ah, that's still an overpay but not near as bad as if Alford were in the deal.
  6. Really hope they don't extend him so the Cubs have a shot in the offseason. If he does get extended who does that leave this offseason? Cueto, Gallardo, Kazmir, Kennedy, Lackey, Latos, Samardzija, Zimmerman Still some good names out there, but a lot less sexy without price I'd be really surprised if the Jays ended up extending Price, especially before he hits the market. While it is kinda disappointing to see so many big names elsewhere, I can say I'm happy the Cubs didn't beat the prices paid for Hamels and Price so far. I don't see how the Jays could possibly afford it. Between paying Tulo and having to replace Buehrle and Dickey, they'd have to jump their payroll up 20 or 30M.
  7. Carassco is pretty much not on the market. The Indians turned down Norris,Hoffman and Pompey. That's like the Cubs offering Schwarber,Javy and McKinney.
  8. At this point, Kennedy/Gallardo/Leake/Haren are probably the options. with the Hamels acquisition, i really expect TEX to attempt a YoGa extension Mike Leake is the dream now I'll take Kennedy of the remaining options. His last 5 or 6 starts have been good.
  9. If it actually ends up being Norris,Boyd and Alford, it may be one of the biggest overpays I've ever seen.
  10. At this point, Kennedy/Gallardo/Leake/Haren are probably the options.
  11. You'd think DeLeon and Cotton would get the deal done easily, I see no reason to give up Urias. The only way the Blue Jays could top that the duo would be with something like Norris and Pentecost. Any of those packages is frankly crazy for a couple months of Price.
  12. 27 years old 2015- 3.37ERA 3.74FIP 3.78xFIP 8.3K/9 1.5fWAR He's nothing special, but he'd be a better option than what they have at 5. The big problem is that he doesn't go very deep into games. He's averaging about 5 2/3IP per start.
  13. who dillon gee? The way things are going, that's about all the addition I'm expecting to this team.
  14. They turned down Norris,Hoffman and Pompey already.
  15. Still can't believe Amaro couldn't get a deal done before the Tigers put Price on the market. Way to devalue your return by indecision.
  16. That's what I hate most about it. People excuse it because, 'hey, you tried', when in fact you ran yourself out of an opportunity. But where I disagree is that you are coming at it from the perspective that it fails every single time when it fact it works out more than it doesn't. It needs to work out far more than it doesn't to justify it. Isn't it generally accepted that you have to successfully steal like 75-80% of the time for it to even be a neutral effect on your offense? I believe that number is significantly lower in today's run enivronment, something like 66%.
  17. We have the money next year and the relationship with Maddon. That would make my day. That's a pretty huge assumption. There's no doubt they have it. It's whether or not the powers that be want to spend it. I'll admit I'm not that informed about the restrictions as a result of Zell selling the team, but I was under the impression that they couldn't approach 130-140M as a payroll until like 2018/2019 when the restrictions were removed.

  19. Without an extension I can't imagine they're realistically in on Price.
  20. With every passing day I think more and more that trading Baez is going to be a disaster. His swing right now is so much likely to produce results. Even without the leg kick he destroyed both of those balls last night.
  21. Perhaps, maybe just perhaps, the Cubs should use Wada who has proven to be a solid 5th starter in his roughly half season of starts.
  22. I'm expecting perhaps a non closer reliever and Will Venable type move. So, not literally nothing, but pretty close.
  23. That's a delightful knee-jerk reaction. Not really. The Cubs don't match up on Hamels and Price isn't on the market. They have said they aren't interested in rentals i.e Samardzija,Kennedy etc. Various reports say they're not in on Shields. The only person they're even being tied to is Tyson Ross.
  24. I'm curious to know what the reaction will be around here if the Cubs do absolutely nothing. I'm starting to think that's the most likely scenario.
