  1. How much longer until Soto is due back?
  2. There's only one thing left to do at this point. Laugh it off. Hopefully this isn't serious.
  3. I think Tebow would make a much better FB than TE. I think he could be one of the best short yardage backs in the league, and he has already proven he is not afraid of contact. Plus he will only have limited route running responsibilities.
  4. Except play closer to their abilities for the next 70 games or however many. I'd rather take a bet that pigs gain the ability to fly before October I'd be glad to bet you on the Cubs winning the division if you think it's such a longshot... with commensurate odds, of course No, just built up anger. Stuff like this really gets to me because it highlights the mismanagement of the resources within the organization. We have no money to add payroll, no prospects that anyone wants that Hendry would actually trade, and we are locked in with the same group of veterans for at least another two years. I really hope Ricketts cleans house, but I'm not holding my breath.

  6. This sucks. The Cardinals have now made two moves to upgrade their roster. I'm not conceding anything, but this really really sucks knowing that there is little, if anything the Cubs can do to improve.
  7. I haven't hit the panic button by any means, and I think you are right that we will end up with a great class. It's still early in the cycle, so a lot can happen. Egwu is really high on us, but we need to explore contingency plans IMO. I don't want Bruce to get back to waiting while kids jerk us around. Best case is a class of: TA, Beal, Shaw, Randle, and Egwu What I think we will get is something like: TA, Randle, Siakam, Williams, Egwu
  8. This question is geared more towards the Illinois fans, but others feel free to chime in. I was just wondering what your impressions are of how 2011 recruitment is going? TA was a great get, but it seems like we have lost some momentum lately. The stuff going on with Shaw and Blackshear is really concerning to me, and personally I'd rather we just avoid both of them. I was really high on Shaw becoming an Illini earlier in the recruitment cycle, but from what I've read its looking like there are some other factors at play. Blackshear has always been cool on the Illini, so I was never too worried about him. I just don't like the fact that his influence seems to be really strong on Shaw. Egwu appears to be the key to the class right now. We need a big man and he looks like the only one on our radar for 2011. This really worries me. Have any of you heard anything about other Center prospects for '11?
  9. I'm at work but that is pretty damn impressive. Looking forward to seeing the highlights when I get home. My White Sox fan friends are going to annoy the crap out of me tonight.
  10. despite their sweep of St Louis they haven't played well enough within the division. They have beat up on the west to the tune of 18-9
  11. Has anyone heard anything on what Houston is trying to do at the deadline? I really haven't seen anything.
  12. I think only 2 of the top 7 players in the Illini's rotation next year will be freshmen. I'm guessing we will start. 1. McCamey 2. Richardson 3. Legion 4. Davis 5. Tisdale With Keller and Paul the first two players off of the bench. I'm not sure we will see a lot of Griffey and Bertrand this year. Griffey has Cole and Simpson in front of him, and Bertrand is the last guard on the roster right now (sidenote: I love Bertrands game, I just hope he can get minutes and become a starter in the coming years).
  13. A save is a statistic credited to a relief pitcher, as set forth in Rule 10.19 of the Rules of Baseball. That rule states the official scorer shall credit a pitcher with a save when such pitcher meets all four of the following conditions[2]: He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his team He is not the winning pitcher He is credited with at least ⅓ of an inning pitched He satisfies one of the following conditions: He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck He pitches for at least three innings Per wikipedia I believe he would get the save
  14. I get the feeling we are going to see nibble nibble gopher ball here
  15. owned. Eat a bag of dicks Milwaukee. Thank you Pittsburgh
  16. The thinking would be to look for a decent hitting SS and then move Theriot to second. It would allow us to widen what we're looking for and not be forced to only look at second basemen. Precisely, I was responding to the objection over Scutaro's defense. I'll take Theriot at second with Marco's production at SS of .284/.382/.414/.795 and a slightly above average OPS+ of 111 this year over whatever production the second base platoon has produced this year.
  17. If the Jays unload Halladay I've got to think that Marco Scuttaro becomes an option if people think theriot is lousy defensively at SS, wait til they get a load of scutaro there. Yeah but his offensemight make the teams good enough that we can overlook it again. I think fixing the black hole of offense at second is more important than SS defense right now. I'm ok with having a Theriot level defensive SS. I haven't seen Scutaro play enough to be able to actually comment on his defensive abilities, so I will defer to those who are more SABR inclined or have seen him play.
  18. If the Jays unload Halladay I've got to think that Marco Scuttaro becomes an option
  19. I know we have no one to replace him with at SS right now, but would he make a better 2B? Andres Blanco? No way do I want Blanco playing everyday. Just another hole in the lineup. Theriot will be at short the rest of the year no matter what. I was thinking more towards future years.
  20. I know we have no one to replace him with at SS right now, but would he make a better 2B?
