  1. Samardzija will not see the minors again this year. He's here to stay.
  2. 11-5 Astros! What a turn of events from two hours ago. It looked like we were going to be 1 back going into Milwaukee, now there is a great chance we'll be up a game. How's that for a huge two game swing?
  3. Fontenot needs to start, that is all!! And the Astros are about to break it WIDE open. 9-5 Astros, bases loaded, no outs in the top of the 8th. 8-)
  4. Piss poor AB from the 14M a year outfielder. He walks DeRo on 4 pitches and Fukudome swings at the 1st pitch up and in.
  5. Marshall can't do better then Marquis??? GMAB.
  6. And the dejected, priceless look of the Brewers fans after that inning are, well, priceless.
  7. could be the league-average ERA coming into this game. Could be stupidity.
  8. Cubs and Marquis in full meltdown mode. How Marquis is still on this team is beyond me.
  9. It's a 2 month season now. IMO, the Cubs are the best of the bunch in the NLC. In looking at when the Cubs started to play mediocre Baseball, look no further then the Rays series. And it's also interesting to note that that's when Carlos Marmol started to lose it. Ever since Marmol has struggled, so has the team. after that series, the Cubs have gone a very pedestrian 15-16. The Cubs have played medicore Baseball for a solid month now and Marmol has been bad most of that time. On the offensive side of things, Fukudome, Lee, Ramirez, Soto and DeRosa have been weak. As far as Alfonso Soriano goes, he is who he is: A streaky player who makes us all cringe but then when he gets on a 3 week tear, he amazes us. I hope this lineup I post gets to Lou, as I think it's the best one for the rest of the season. Fukudome Theriot Ramirez Soriano Lee Edmonds/Johnson Soto DeRosa Enough is enough with the whole: "Soriano needs to leadoff" crap. He needs to be in a position to see more fastballs. If he has runners on base, he's likely to see more fastballs as pitchers are not going to walk him with runners on. As far as Lee goes, IMO, he's not a superstar but most people view him as one because of the 2 great seasons he had.. D-Lee is a solid player but not even close to a superstar. If our expectations of Lee are something along the lines of: .290/24/90-95 RBI, then we won't be upset with his production. I am far more concerned with how awful Fukodome has looked. To be getting paid what he is for what he has produced has been a waste of huge dollars. He is a leadoff or two hitter but is getting paid to be a major producer. It was just too big of a contract for what he brings to the table. I'm not too concerned about A-Ram, as I know he'll be right where he always is when all is said and done. Geo has hit a rookie wall, which is not too much of a surprise. DeRo, overall, is having a nice season but he, like much of the team, is in a horrendous slump. In the end, however, the deepest team usually wins and that's the Cubs.
  10. If this isn't the perfect example of: "That's Baseball" I don't know what is. The Pirates sweep and whip Astros in 3 at MM park. The Brewers sweep 4 at STL. Surely the Brewers will whip the Astros at home, especially with a 1st place tie at stake. Brewers win, right?
  11. You mean you are allowed to have pinch hitters who get hits in CLUTCH situations? This is not allowed I thought.
  12. I have really started to sour on Fukudome. The fact he started the All-Star game is a sham.
  13. But if he continues to throw only that pitch when it's 3-1 and 3-2, teams are going to know it's coming. It's becoming easily predictable that he is going to throw that pitch in that situation. Doesn't he have to blow them away with mids 90's heat once in a while?
  14. Someone answer this for me. Why does Carlos continue to only throw the slider on 3-1 and 3-2 counts? He has been walking a ton of batters on his slider when a fastball is in order. Is it he has no confidence in throwing the heat for a strike? Certainly teams are scouting him and if the hitter knows a 3-1 slider is coming, they are going to be better prepared to smoke it, especially if he keeps hanging them. Len Kapser, are you here? Anyone else want to chime in?
  15. Reed Johnson!!!! GS!!! It's been an awful 2-4 trip assuming we win tonight. They still have to get it together on the road but I see a 5 game winning streak coming and Florida is due for a serious ass kicking from us. No first place for you, Milwaukee. :-$ We occupy the penthouse. :amen:
  16. CC has 3 complete games in 3 starts. Our entire team has 1 all year. Lou is not a fan of the complete game.
  17. Uh, sorry but you have no idea what you're talking about. Lilly had those 4 bad starts to begin the year (when his velocity was still down) but has been great since then. He's 9-3 with a 3.82 ERA in 16 starts since then. Tell me what his seaon numbers are again. How many homers has this junk baller given up? It's you who has no idea what they are talking about.
  18. Ha ha! How many homers has Lilly given up now, 24?
  19. Lilly is garbage and he has been all year. I still say Hendry should try and add one more pitcher because Marquis and Lilly absolutely stink.
