  1. Crewfan. He loves Wrigley Field.
  2. This may be the most lopsided poll in NSBB history.
  3. I have a hard time imagining one without the other, but definitely the Cubs.
  4. 1. Wrigley 2. Fenway 3. Camden Yards 4. Wrigley Field South (aka Turner)
  5. They used to. It was called the 90s. And the 80s. And the 70s. And.....
  6. Strictly speaking they weren't terminated, they simply weren't rehired. They couldn't really be fired because, once they resigned, they no longer had jobs to be fired from.
  7. Dempster quickly became one of my favorite Cubs last year. I especially enjoyed his broadcasting from the dugout during a national telecast (I believe on Fox).
  8. You should call your team M*A*S*H 4077.
  9. Another good one would be for somebody to Photoshop an Iowa uniform on a photo of Ty Cobb. :D
  10. I was able to pick up Peralta as a free agent in one of my leagues. And that's a keeper league, so I still have him.
  11. Anybody? Bueller?
  12. Whoa, that's going overboard. Some people, yes, but not most people.
  13. Well yeah, but Woody's rate of return on complete seasons has been running at 0% for years now. Sure everyone's one play away, but Woody's been rolling snake eyes so often, I can't see how he will suddenly become a rock in the rotation. 2 years. ....and counting. And before that he had two years in a row (2002 and 2003) where he didn't miss a single start either season. So you can't be certain that, just because he's had injuries the past couple of years, that it will continue.
  14. I'd probably do it. It looks like you'd still have a fairly good outfield, especially if Baldelli returns to form. But if you're counting on Borowski, I'd say your bullpen could use the help.
  15. I don't think those one day contracts that players sign in the NFL are allowed under MLB labor rules. I am not 100% sure about that but I remember reading it somewhere. That is why you never see it happen in baseball but it happens all the time in football, even with marginal players. If a player were signed to a one-day contract (if they're even allowed, which I don't know) there would still be the need to create a space on the 40-man roster for the player (unless it was a minor league contract, in which case he wouldn't really be retiring as a Cub, but as an Iowa player).
  16. I think Brien Taylor would be a better example still, since he was the number 1 overall pick and never made it to the majors. Another example would be Lance Dickson, who was drafted by the Cubs with a high first round pick (top 10 overall, I believe) in 1990 and never returned to the majors after a brief appearance late in 1990 because of injuries. Wood may not (yet) have fully lived up to his promise, but he's a very solid pitcher when healthy, so he's not even close to being a bust.
  17. It's my favorite baseball movie, and one of my favorite movies of any kind. I have it on DVD, and have a spring ritual of watching it and some other baseball movies during the week before the start of the season.
  18. I was watching that, and that move was as unnecessary as Ohno falling down trying to pass for first place when all he needed to do was stay in second to advance. I think it may just be a case of competitive nature prevailing over good judgment.
  19. Yes it does. I get Extra Innings through DirecTV and they did have quite a few CSN broadcasts last year. Thanks for the info NC, Im deffinantly going to get extra innings this year then. It's worth it. Between Extra Innings and WGN the vast majority of games are available (although sometimes with the other team's broadcast).
  20. Just like Ty Griffin, and Earl Cunningham, and Jayson Peterson, and..........
  21. That actually happens all the time in football, but I haven't heard of that in baseball.
  22. As both a Bears and IU fan I'd love to see Randle El in Chicago.
  23. You can say that again. Oh, wait; you DID day that again.
  24. Yes it does. I get Extra Innings through DirecTV and they did have quite a few CSN broadcasts last year.
  25. I ordered it Jan. 20. Haven't received it yet; check hasn't cleared the bank.
