  1. I'd say Barrett at the moment. If he continues his recent success, I'd possibly change that to Z. A few weeks ago I thought Maddux was a lock.
  2. Micah still leading, 327 to 269.
  3. It's been replaced now.
  4. Poor Diamond & Slugger is back down to 0%. I'm sure the last thing they were expecting was for a fan of another team to see their website and post information about the poll on a message board.
  5. Good to read that Dopirak seems close to returning. Hopefully he can pick up from his good Spring Training and rebound from last year.
  6. Rather interesting irony that the Ryu up thread and the Ryu down thread have been back to back on the list for some time. Much like the quick turnaround between the Cubs calling him up and sending him back down. :D
  7. I was just in Chattanooga vacationing last week. I considered going to a game (which was the reason I was visiting their web site in the first place and found out about this poll). Ultimately I didn't go because the day I was considering going had some thunderstorms in the area and uncomfortable humidity. Had they been playing the Djaxx I would have gone anyway.
  8. Yes. I'm thinking David Cash may have been the other, but I'm not sure about that.
  9. So far, so good with Aardsma this time.
  10. Dear Dusty: You earn a spot in the starting rotation by pitching effectively, not by striking out a lot of batters but also giving up a ton of runs. Please learn that and reconsider your indefensible decision.
  11. May as well just forfeit that game and not risk injury. If Dusty is really stupid enough to start Rusch, it's an automatic loss anyway.
  12. Micah now leads 296 to 236.
  13. Hendry and MacPhail.
  14. It's the other way around. Dopirak broke his foot in the first game of the year, and Sing started the year at Iowa but got moved back to West Tenn after struggling. He's had eye problems which have probably contributed to his struggles.
  15. That was the year Bonham lost over 20. Santo and Jenkins were traded after 1973, but Williams was still on the Cubs in 74 (that was his last year as a Cub).
  16. No, the next one is this Thursday (June 1).
  17. Which were Hendry's own fault for not being prepared for injuries despite Prior's and Wood's recent history.
  18. If they skip the fifth spot due to the off-day, they could bring Ryu back up next time through the rotation. By then he will have been down the required 10 days. Other options would be to bring Williams, Hill, or Guzman back up, or to call up Marmol from West Tenn and see what he can do. Starting Rusch is NOT an option; he's proven time and time again, both as a starter and a reliever, that he can't be used in anything but mopup duty this year.
  19. Since I'm starting over tomorrow anyway (thanks to Torii Hunter's 0-fer today), I'm having some fun. My pick for tomorrow is Tony Womack. (Of course, Dusty will probably reward him for today's performance by giving him the day off.)
  20. Saying to award it to the NEXT highest Cub fan is saying that you are a Cub fan. If you were, say, a Cardinal fan, then it would be the highest, not the next highest Cub fan.
  21. There's an obvious solution to the problem I'm surprised nobody has thought of yet: Bring Doug Dascenzo out of retirement. After all, he has four appearances (five innings pitched) in his career, and he didn't give up a single run, earned or unearned. Therefore, he'd have a 100% chance of pitching a shutout.

    WEEK 8

It's all going to come down to Padilla's start tonight. If he sucks like Wright did, the overnight deductions for total bases allowed may allow me to sneak by. Maybe I'll luck out by not having any pitchers go today.
  23. Scores are available now, so if everybody could check their results and post their scores, I'll put it together and come up with standings for our pseudo-league. My team (Dusty's Base Cloggers) is in 1078th place (out of 1342), with 57 points. It doesn't help that I have one player (Christian Guzman) missing the entire year with an injury, one (Tike Redman) who has spent the entire season in the minors, and one (Jacque Jones) who has actually shown recent life. I need my stiffs to start stinking like they're capable of to fill the void.
  24. I'm closer to a perfect score than I am to last place.
