  1. I would guess the person that started the poll. Or else a Cards fan who can't stand the thought of the Cubs getting Arod. :D
  2. For once I'm hoping that Levine is the more knowledgeable Bruce. :D
  3. you are low-balling the kid then eh? i expect above .260 easily BP's predicted line (prior to this season's big AAA year): .235/.307/.336 I'm definitely hoping the huge numbers in AAA this year are a harbinger of future fortunes for Soto, but the fact that he's never been good with the bat before still has me worried. He's still an improvement over what we've had - I just wonder how much of one. first of all...his name is soto is four the magic number? theriot fontenot soto cedeno O boy! Zambrano and not from our system, but Soriano i know, i was waiting for someone to catch this... so...maybe 6 is the number then...the number of the beast!!! If he's able to come back you have Blanco, which would give the lucky number of 7. :D
  4. Not sure who the three teams are but I heard that the other GMs are referring to them as Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest. I thought it was Larry, Moe, and Curly.
  5. I'd be hesitant to include Murton in a package for Griffey because we need insurance, should Griffey get injured. The braves won't give up Escobar or Salty for sure, and from quotes it sounds like they are really high on Reyes. They might be getting tired of Davies though and send him. He has a slightly more impressive minor league career than Marshall, but hasn't been able to hit the strike zone and has gotten hammered in 150 ML innings. I'm thinking Davies and Marshall have similar value given the fact that Davies has a bit of a better minor league career and is younger, but has had a bit of a rougher ML experience. You'd still have Pagan and Floyd...Murton isn't in the majors now, and you aren't giving up any outfielders that are currently in the majors...so if Griffey gets injured, you're not really worse off than you are now. Plus Derosa and Theriot can play in the outfield too. There's no shortage of possibilities.
  6. Former National League umpire Shag Crawford has died at age 90. He was an NL umpire from 1956 through 1975 (back when the leagues had separate umpiring crews). He was the father of major league umpire Jerry Crawford and NBA official Joey Crawford. He would have turned 91 next month.
  7. http://www.diamondjaxx.com/images/p21/Ribbee%20Hi.jpg This is a ribbee. :D
  8. Don't tell someone what and what not to post.
  9. Lugo. His past suggests that he has a chance to rebound and at least have a decent second half.
  10. That was me. I thought a title more descriptive than simply "Sergio Garcia" was appropriate.
  11. Um, Tony, you DO realize that you actually need to tie the game for extra innings to even become an issue, don't you? And Pujols is your best bet to tie the game.
  12. Occasionally, just to see if there's any player news. But not for scoreboard-watching. :D
  13. It's not a typo.
  14. Black because of his interest in hip-hop. I plead guilty to stereotyping.
  15. The union might have something to say about that too. I don't think the union would have the right to complain. If he chooses to opt out he's voiding the remainder of his current contract and whatever he negotiates with the Cubs (or any other team) would be a completely new contract, not a renegotiation of an existing contract.
  16. He did while running the bases and left the game after 2 innings. I haven't read anything yet about whether he'll miss any starts.
  17. I remember when Winfield threw a ball toward the infield that hit and killed a seagull, and the Yankees' manager at the time (I think it was Billy Martin) quipped that it was the first time all year Winfield hit the cut-off man.
  18. Did I??? Sorry!!! I will check, if I did (and it matters), please erase my last two starts Juan. Edit: I admit that with my vacation and all, that I haven't been paying close attention. But I checked the STATS page for this past week and it shows that I had 7 starts. 2 from Silva and Lowe, and 1 from Contreras, Buehrle, and Millwood. But the funny thing is that I remember that Buehrle did start twice for me. Juan, did you already delete two of my starts? yes Thanks. Again, my apologies for the slip up. BTW - Hamburg is great! As I said before, no big deal as far as I was concerned because you had me beat anyway. It's easy for something like this to happen when one doesn't have daily Internet access since, to the best of my knowledge, you can't edit your lineup in advance for a specified future date (as you can with Yahoo).sure, you can, all you have to do is click the data you want to set the lineup for at the top of the screen and then make your changes. That change will be effective only for that date gone forward. Third year in the league and I'm still learning things. :D Oh.... Sounds like you didn't know that either.
  19. He may have pitched in college at Minnesota. He was also on the basketball team in college.
  20. 714, because that's how many home runs Babe Ruth hit. Either that, or it's because that's the badge number worn by the show's technical advisor.
  21. I think it's more likely that would just get Pie a stay of execution and keep him up when a 12th pitcher is added. Otherwise a position player would have to go and, barring a trade, I think Pie would be the most likely.
  22. I said good. As much as I think he sucks during the off-season, Hendry has made some good in-season trades over the years (Ramirez and Nomar in particular).
  23. Dum, dum dum dumDum, dum dum dum DUM
  24. The wild card is in addition to the two transactions you've already used. You get two non-WC transactions before the break and two after, plus you get one WC transaction at the break.
  25. A pattern ever since I joined the league has just occurred to me. 2005: I have a losing record in Roadkill, Cubs have a losing record in MLB. 2006: I have a losing record in Roadkill, Cubs have a losing record in MLB. 2007 through All-Star break: I have a winning record and am in playoff contention in Roadkill, Cubs have a winning record and are in playoff contention in MLB. So if you want the Cubs to win the World Series this year, the solution is for everybody to throw their matches to me and make sure I win the Roadkill championship. :D
