  1. Two other former Cubs (Ron Coomer and Kent Bottenfield) are also on the list. If this list had gone back further than 10 years Steve Swisher might have been #1.
  2. I think sending him down is an alternative too.
  3. That makes NO sense to me, since he could be optioned instead. Unless they trade him that means they basically gave Barrett away.
  4. Gotta be Bowen then. Nothing else makes any sense. Bowen and Hill both suck, so I can see the logic behind sending him down since he still has options.
  5. Other than the players Tim picked up and dropped again, the players would have cleared waivers and become free agents by now if we were to do it the regular way.
  6. 9948 (9901 through 2006 plus 47 so far this year). They'd need to win 99 games in the regular season to reach 10,000 this year. Ain't gonna happen.
  7. No competitive throwing doesn't mean he won't be able to do any rehabilitation, it just means not pitching in an actual game. And it seems to me that pitchers who have shoulder surgery aren't usually out longer than a year; that's even longer than pitchers recovering from TJS.
  8. I doubt he'll be called up because he isn't on the 40-man roster.
  9. I think Marquis' short outing yesterday and the resulting taxing of the bullpen made it necessary to make a move now.
  10. Is there a limit to the number of players we can request? I believe there would be a limit of 10, since that's the maximum minor league roster size. Otherwise (and I'm sure Juan will mention if I'm wrong) I don't think there is a limit, but I think you'd need to prioritize the order of your picks so that he knows which player to give you first when your turn comes up.
  11. Do you want us to PM you with requests for all new additions to the database, or just those who have cleared waivers and become free agents? In other words, should we PM you if we're interested in some of the players Tim picked up and dropped, or should we claim them through the normal process (since they're back on waivers again)?
  12. Not the good kind, though. On Sunday they became the first franchise in major league history to lose 10,000 games. A couple of ill-fated trades with the Cubs (Fergie Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg) may have contributed to their "accomplishment."
  13. Dopirak? He's putting up mediocre/bad numbers in Daytona. Maybe he got Dope and Hoffpauir mixed up.
  14. I enjoyed Harry, but Jack Brickhouse was the best.
  15. Makes sense if you think about it. The June draft in the major leagues is based on last year's record, and since the players in question are from the June draft the same logic applied to Roadkill would dictate that picks would be based on last year. The fact that I'd have the third pick has nothing to do with me saying that. :^o
  16. They seem to be ridiculously slow at removing players from the database (players are still in there that have been out of baseball for a few years, like Chad Fox). The database seems like Hotel California; you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave. :D
  17. Was that after the 1st inning? He hit 88-89 last year at Peoria and by the 4rd was down to 83-84. The...4rd? It follows the 3nd. :D
  18. exactly. I gave Tim back the players he dropped. So much for the Veal feast I was planning for next weekend.:D (That is fair, though.)
  19. With Marquis exiting so early today I think it's a virtual certainty that a pitcher will be called up for tomorrow's game (probably Petrick), so that's who would immediately replace Floyd on the roster if he goes on the DL. If not we've seen the end of the unnecessary third catcher.
  20. Yep, Pie sure needs more minor league seasoning. :-k
  21. Too bad Sportsline doesn't include new players added to the database in the daily e-mail reports. That would make it easier to keep up with.
  22. yea, that's a problem. It looks like you've fixed it.
  23. I'm fine with the monthly waivers process. I also think that since Tim is putting the players back in the pool he should be able to get back the players he dropped to make room for them without the dropped players having to clear waivers first.
  24. In addition to searching by player, you can also check by major league team; it will show all players for that team in the database on a single screen. They seem to be rather slow at deleting players (for example, Chad Fox is still available and listed as a Cub).
  25. I've noticed a problem in the league this week Juan may need to correct manually. Half of the teams in the league are getting points added to their season totals for this week, while the other half aren't. If you look at the scoreboard you'll notice there are 8 games listed with an actual team vs. "bye." The points scored by those actual teams are being added to their totals in the standings. Nothing is being added for the other 8 teams. And I suspect those 8 teams will also be credited with wins for shutting out "bye." Personally, I don't think any teams should receive points for this week since it was designated as a bye week and therefore most of us probably haven't done anything about setting lineups this week.
