  1. Yes I do. Do YOU remember when Mike Schmidt hit .196 as a rookie? The Phillies obviously should have released that worthless bum. You just compared Ronny Cedeno to Mike Schmidt...................................................................................................................................................................................... Yes, to point out the absurdity of basing playing time decisions for THIS year based on a player's performance AS A ROOKIE TWO YEARS AGO. But its better to base how good a player is by 1 month of spot starts and pinch hitting? When that performance is THIS year and our argument is based on TWO YEARS AGO, yes. Yeah because if he started every game this year he would be hitting .380? I'm not going to continue this debate. I'm not going to change your mind, you're not going to change my mine, and ultimately the only mind that matters is Lou's.

  3. In 1973 Mike Schmidt as the everyday starter hit .196. In 1986 Barry Bonds as the everyday starter hit .223. In 1990 Sammy Sosa as the everyday starter hit .233. So enough judging a player based on his first year as an everyday starter.

  6. Funny because I like guys who hit over .300 and get on base. I, on the other hand, like guys who can be counted on to STAY on base after getting on.

    Week 6

A dinger from Dewitt his first game after I promote him from my minor league roster. I have an outside shot at a 100-point Monday.
  8. After Fontenot gave away the game tonight (both with his glove and on the bases) he MUST be benched in favor of Cedeno effecive tomorrow; it isn't even debatable. And no, Lou, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DEMOTING PIE AND GOING WITH 13 FRICKING PITCHERS!!!!!
  9. Yes, to support the site so Tim can afford to continue operating it. :banghead:
  10. Actually West Tenn won 13-3, but that's completely irrelevant to this discussion. Tenn won 6-1. Actually, I think he's good on track. :D

    Week 6

Combined pitching line for me tonight from Cy Santana and Cy McGowan: 16.1 IP, 8 H (6 1B, 2 2B), 15 K, ZERO BB, 2 W (I realize that doesn't affect the scoring), 1 CG, 1 SO. And Santana has another start this week. To think that a few weeks ago, over-reacting to losing K-Rod for a few games, I offered Santana to Adam straight up for a top closer, and he turned it down. Perfect example of sometimes the best trades being the ones you don't make. :D

    Week 6

Ervin Santana is awesome this year. And to think I got him for Edwin Encarnacion. \:D/ After a crappy pitching week last week it looks like I'm back on track.
  13. Especially consideering that, with 29 games in May, that's a difference between barely winning a third of the games (no chance they do that bad) and winning slightly over half. A huge world of difference within a single option.
  14. Fixed.
  15. I also have a couple of minor leaguers I may need to promote soon. Dewitt apparently has won the starting 3B job for the Dodgers (LaRoche just got sent to the minors upon being activated from the DL). And Mathis finally seems to be up to stay. Too bad he's splitting time with Napoli; otherwise I'd make him my starting catcher.
  16. I guarantee my team will lose this week.
  17. What the HELL was Lou thinking letting Mamol pitch TWO innings in a blowout win? For that matter, why did he pitch AT ALL? Inexcusable and unforgiveable.
  18. I hate Lou. Using Marmol for TWO innings in a blowout win is inexcusable and unforgiveable.
  19. The worst manager is the one who inexcusably and unforgiveably used his best reliever for TWO innings in a blowout win.
  20. Actually Mateo has already been removed from the 40 man. Correct, but that was to create space for Fox on the 40-man. That doesn't necessarily mean Mateo will retire (though I'm guessing he already retired), he could stick it out and report to Daytona. I agree that Ascanio would have been the much better choice as would a second lefty in Cotts. Fox was horrid his last time out and Ascanio and Cotts have been fantastic all season. And of course, Ascanio and Cotts were already on the 40-man. According to the Cubs there was space with or without Mateo. Exactly; there was already room for Fox on the 40-man (it would only have been at 39 even if Mateo weren't derostered). Perhaps this is a percursor to another move; otherwise it's unnecessary.
  21. who? He's an invisible rabbit that Raisin sees sometimes. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a1/Harvey_trailer.png
  22. My team is absolute crap this week. Another negative pitching start (this time from Jackson) has left me with the lowest score of the week, and only one pitching start remaining. Oh well, may as well get all the crappiness out at once, get completely trounced, and come roaring back next week.
  23. Oops, you're right. He was a setup man for a few seasons before that. So he turned to crap simply as a result of switching teams, not switching roles.
