  3. Freddy Sanchez. Actually its very good. My brother in law in Burbank used to coach baseball there. In 1992, his last year there, he would stay late and hit ground balls to some skinny kid for fun. After awhile, he got to know him and thought alot of the kid. not the biggest, best baseball player around, etc etc etc, but he worked very hard and liked the game alot. The kid wasn' happy in the least bit that Dave was leaving the position, but things are sometimes just what they need to be. That kid was Freddy. Last Tuesday, my brother in law, sister, and two nephews watched Freddy play in the All Star game. They were all very proud of him. I thought it was a cool story. I dont know much about his professional career, but he has fans back in LA county. Congrates.

The question to be asked then is "have the players decided to take it upon themselves to be more patient, going against the wishes of a management team that is on it's way out anyway?" Or has management decided to quietly take a completely different approach than they have for the last 3 1/2 years? :shock: say it aint so

  13. The column is about how Steve Dahl's son was a co-founder of an anti-Mariotti website. My understanding is that Jay is on an "eight week time out". I dont' think this would have happened had he not lashed out at his employer on TV. Who knows...he may never be back. Mariotti had every right to rip his editors for not backing him up. For them to possibly have put him on an extended leave for calling that out is really, really wrong. Whatever his personal and professional flaws (and he has tons of professional ones), he deserved to have the backing of his editors when it comes to a manager of a professional team using hateful slurs to deride him. agreed. I never liked Marriotti much, but he is right this time in a huge way.
  14. Using a stretched out extreme example negates any value in your example. It's pretty interesting to note that in nearly everyone of your diatribes about what is and is not worthwhile, you use extreme examples that have no basis in reality. I use extreme examples because it easier to see my point. So let's use a real life example. The Cubs sign somebody who has a .400 OBP, and bat him 7th. He gets on base 40 percent of the time, but he dies on first because Neifi and the pitcher strike out everytime he is on base. So this guy never scores even though he gets on base a great deal. If you moved him to 2nd in the order though in front of Lee, this person would be driven in 30 percent of the time. Therefore, run production would go up. How do you account for the fact that Neifi Perez has arguably been our best RBI man this year ???   18. I disagree that the lineup order would improve this team much. Wow Thanks for the insight. OBP off all of those spots in the lineup with current players and splits included. Pierre (320), Barrett (399), Lee (396), Aramis (324), Jones/Murton (372), Walker (356), Jones/Murton (287), Cedeno (280). no need for the sarcasm just because your argument has been proven wrong by dozens of people who do nothing but analyze baseball. I all fairness stitch, you arent really providing much of an arguement here. WHO says WHAT in your arguement? what are you saying??

  24. St. Louis' pitching seems to go in some pretty awful spurts. The Padres didn't hold the Braves down in the first three games of the stretch either. Yeah that's true, but I also remember the same Cardinals staff giving up something like 20 and 14 runs in back-to-back games against the Sox a few weeks ago. Mulder was hurt. At least he is an excuse. fixed
