Excellent post. I agree with every word. I only disagree with point 1) There is plenty Maddux has and hasnt taught the kids I'm sure. Why not give them more exposure to him? I would much rather take your point 2) and replace Rothschild with Maddux, by firing Larry and leting Maddux player/coach, if he would. That being said, if we could get a great prospect for him in a trade, by alllll means, full speed ahead on it. But we should still fire Larry, and Moe, and Curly for that matter........

This is a case of quantity over quality. quantity is a quality -
The Dodgers would be insane to trad Guzman, Kemp or LaRoche for Maddux. Yes, but here is a situation where Colletti's utmost devotion (some may call it blind devotion) to Maddux could really work out in the Cubs favor. I keep hearing the Cubs want 2 top prospects from LA. :shock: go hendry go hendry go go go go go

I see no issue with Hendry holding pat on him unless he is blwn away by someone. Maddux (despite his bad 2 past seasons) has percieved value,otherwise teams wouldnt be talking to the Cubs about him. I think Hendry can and should milk it for all its worth.

:?: I also dont understand. I would think if he was going to be a FA, they would have to give up less because he would be less desirable to trade for and give up too much if they may just loose him at the end of the season
