  1. I saw give him a contract. LEt him work out of the pen if hes willing. let him build his arm back up that way, to a closer, or maybe eventually back to being a starter. I still have hope he could pull a John Smoltz. I dont know if Kerry will ever be Cooperstown material, but I do think he can still lead this team, even if its from the closer tole. And so we have an overloaded bullpen. Cant we make a trade (Demp, Wuertz, Howry) to dring in a strong mnor league bat?
  2. Fixed your post. fixed again. I guess this is my point: how many different ways can we point this stuff out before it gets as redundant as Baker's stupidity? as many times as Baker is stupid...infinity I guess Well, then...I guess I'm just not going to take part in it anymore-all these things are a given, and to harp on the same thing over and over and over again is pretty much a waste of time. I think I've read the letters OBP about 8 million times over the last couple of days. I sometimes wonder who the truly stupid ones are: Baker/Hendry for being so consistently and obviously blind to certain baseball aspects, or us for being so blind to the fact that we can't change that. Both of us feel the need to fight the same fight day in and day out. I, for one, am over it and willing to accept this regime for who it is (a fundamentally flawed philosophy) and just hope for the best for my team. If this were a marriage, then we could file for divorce, but we are Cubs fans. What are we to do? Root for the Sox? I'd rather stop following basebal altogether.[/quote] =; thats pure blastphemy

  4. You know, I guarantee, if management said to Gooz, "We want to give you thursday's start, but we just can't figure out how to get you from Nevada to Chicago in time," Gooz would offer to buy his own plane ticket. or sprout a set of wings and flap to Chicago if he had to. I'm sure he could find a way to get there

  6. lol..I hate you...
  7. If OBP is "very, very important", then why bat someone 2nd who doesn't get on base? Honestly, he doesn't believe that OBP is very, very important. Nothing in the way he's managed the Cubs, or what he's said in the past about walks or aggressiveness at the plate, suggest that he values OBP. He's saying that because there are some knowledgeable fans and media who have started to get on his ass about the Cubs' lack of OBP ability and its correlation to the lack of offense on the team under his management. He's trying to say the right thing to appease those people. too bad he doesnt DO the right thng to appease those people
  8. If OBP is "very, very important", then why bat someone 2nd who doesn't get on base? duuuuh...Dusty wants him to become a "ballplayer", you know, that wonderful magical quality that makes one into a god amongst mere mortals...
  9. This is true and I have proof! It is a strange planet called 'National'; here they are in their native garb watching the mother ship land: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/2006/07/10/mwF5xYhk.jpg To show how big zambrano is next to a mere mortal, it should be noted that Yadier Molina is standing in front of the 2. omg thats funny.....lol
  10. ....We had playoff chances? News to me. I was just going to qoute that as well...shocking...
  11. Liriano has inflammation in his throwing elbow, will miss next start. It was reported on KARE 11 local news last night. sonnova edit: here ya go: http://wcco.com/sports/local_story_214015441.html
  12. its amazing, isn't it? we (as a species) run the gamut on our attitudes to others if Jones is getting racial slurs flung at him, I feel deeply bad for him. I hope he realizes that although alot of us may not like his prodution, we still welcome him as a human being...
  13. I'm going to guess that Wrigley Field itself has plays a significant role in that. Who OWNS Wrigley? Does the Trib take in all the proceeds from a game (ie Tix, concessions, etc?) Is there any money owed on Wrigley, or is essentiaully paid for?
  14. I'm here to say it. I was/am a Rich Hill doubter. I just can't trust a guy whos main pitches are curveballs...too easy to start hanging them and get rocked. That being said, congrates Rich. I hope last night was an indication of what you WILL do and not the previous starts. If you become a fixture in the rotation, and pitch that well the majority of times, I can be converted. This is the game everyone claimed he was capable of. Glad to see it.
