  1. you've never spent much time in LA have you?
  2. Myrtle Beach Metro population: 217,608 LA Metro population (not including 2 million San Diegans 100 miles away): 18 million lol well yes, population...
  3. No....no way. It's NYC's thing and that's the way it should stay. Why? What gives NYC exclusive rights? I think it'd be great to see some fans outside of the Giants and Jets hooting and hollering in the balcony. Giants, Jets, Cowboys, Redskins and Eagles show up en masse. LA sucks and should not be in the discussion. NY is close to multiple NFL teams, and the home to large chunks of several fan bases. They supported the draft long before it became popular. That being said, it could be fun to see it in Chicago, where you'd get a fair amount of Bears, Packers, Vikings and possibly even Rams fans. DC, Philly, Boston could be decent locales as well. It might be fun to do it beachside in Florida, where you'd get a spring break type atmosphere thrown in. But LA should not be in the mix. I don't have a problem with it being put in centralized locations so fans of multiple teams can attend. You could do it in Atlanta too, and get Falcons, Panthers, Dolphins, Bucs, and maybe Titans fans. The West is tough because most of those teams fans are so far spread out. I imagine the LA idea is to offer an olive branch to the city since they still don't have a team yet. You'd still be able to get plenty of CA team fans there. Why should LA be excluded? in LA you would get a huge mix of transplanted fans from every team. I dont know what difference it would make if it was in LA or Myrtle Beach
  4. I decided about a year ago to no longer read any of his columns that had anything to do with anything OTHER then Mark Cuban. my hope is his readership will drop soooo low that the Trib will only print his Cuban stuff one can dream. You talking about Mariotti or somebody else now? he is pretty pro-Cuban, I like that...cigars and owners, ya know? He writes for the Sun-Times. that too. I completely missed that. thanks

  7. Cuban as an owner seems too logical, it makes too much sense
  8. It makes me hungry for Mrs. Mikes chips. Best thing about the trip from Rockford to Freeport is a stop at Ridott Corners, a little bar about halfway between the two. Stop in for a famous Ridott burger ($3.75 for a 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger and (Mrs. Mikes) chips), a couple cold ones, and of course, every Cub game home and away on their one and only big screen there. I've been. awesome bar burger.
  9. well, we do have something in common after all....
  10. more runs, more walks....more runs, more walks....methinks they is something amiss here......
  11. I thought the Cubs were supposed to be delivered by a left handed phenom?
  12. I completely agree with this. And I think more Bears fans will be on board once the season starts. But in the mean time, we have to do with people that take Jay Mariotti as a genius. he isnt? (sarcasm)
  13. Really? Chad's been alright, but his success was moderate at best and very short lived. Rivers and Cutler may be good, but neither has done much, and neither has anybody else not bolded. I would add Phillip Rivers, as I think he is starting to come on and be a decent QB, but thats about it
  14. ....Why take a FB in the first round?.... lol He's not an NFL QB. Can he even throw? I'm not disagreeing, I just thought that was funny
  15. ....Why take a FB in the first round?.... lol
  16. I guess I just dont put much value into it (mock drafts this time of year). things change so much before the end of training camp let alone before the end of the college/nfl seasons. to me, its really an exercise in guess work.
  17. CNNSI has one too...Bears taking Dymetrius Byrd, WR, LSU. It's an exercise in ridiculousness. I don't see the problem. It's an early look at where these guys think the teams will be drafting (ie, how good or bad they will be in 2008), and what players people should keep an eye on this college football season. which is abit ridiculous consider noone has a crystal ball, but fun to do non-the-less
  18. That just strikes me as completely unnecessary. Although the situation may well be different behind the scenes. I would have preferred he just say something like no, I don't feel Brian is holding a gun to my head. yea, Angelo seems flush-arrogant after the draft (in that comment). tone it down abit Jerry, you havent exactly proved you are God either.
  19. He looked real good there. He looked a lot like a young Marcus Allen. Bigger, but similar speed and running style. Robert Smith comparison still fits, but he looks a lot tougher than the thespian ever was. I dont think RSmith ever acted much, but I get your idea
  20. they arent going to cut Benson, they got Forte to push him/replace him. if anything, they will trade Benson before they cut him
  21. Brohm has hurt his knee once, maybe twice he's had surgery on it. I don't think he'd be comfortable behind your line and the offensive scheme the Bears run unless they've gone to more of a short pass attack. I dont think Ron Turner has any clue as to what kind of passing game he has or wants
  22. A couple things. Rex is on a 1-year deal. If he reaches his potential, he could easily walk away. Granted, he's likely to give the Bears a discount for being the only people on Earth who believed in him, but it's not like he's locked up for years to come. Secondly, you rarely see an above average QB allowed to reach unrestricted free agency. Teams don't allow good QBs to leave unless they are well past their prime or coming off a major injury (Brees, Culpepper). And of course, I agree about the pipeline thing. I wanted a QB drafted. Josh Johnson was very intriguing to me, but he needs a lot of teaching/coaching. QB coaching is not a Bears strength. Brohm and Booty were guys I wanted simply because they are the only 2 I felt could legitimately compete in 08 because they do have the basics down to be NFL QBs. I wasn't surprised the Bears didnt draft a QB past the 3rd, and was worried they might bhave taken Brohm in the 2nd. I think Brohm has a future, but not with us. who knows. QB's are such a crapshot. undrafted QB's becomes starters just like drafted ones, although it becomes much more difficult to predict. having said that, I didnt really like any of the QB's in this draft other then Brohm, who I think has the best shot (excluding Matt Ryan). I guess any QB without a strong arm scares me abit, call it the "Shane Matthews" factor.
  23. Yes, but my point was that after the Super Bowl season, they seemed comfortable making off-the-wall choices and settling for depth in the draft, because they thought the team was fine for a few years. But the sharp dropoff could be a lot worse than a post Super Bowl loss hangover, and without an impact draft in 2008, this team could quickly turn bad enough to justify canning those guys. The draft always plays a factor, but they were able to get away with the busts of Grossman, Benson and others. They won't survive if their 2008 draft picks bust in a similar fashion. it has been maddening. they claim to build through the draft, and yet the last generation of O-line had 1 home-grown talent. or maybe this "build-through-the-draft" talk is relatively recent? I hope so. that would point in the direction of some much more forward thinking. but when I see Steltz being drafted instead of one of the G's that were available, my head explodes. I seriously doubt Steltz will ever be more then a special teams guy. I would love to be wrong, but I'm not. why take a chance on him when your DB's are full of chances, and you NEED to take a chance on some O-line guys. I just dont get it.
  24. I guess my thought on O-lineman are you draft them early, middle and late until the positions are solid, and then you stock pile. It might be abit Parcellian, but this last year royally proved the point. If Beekman can step up, fine, but I dont want to wait for anyone, I would rather have a few to compete.
