Pretty much, yes. You don't spend 1st round picks on guys who might be okay guards. At the time it didn't seem bad. But we heard about pre-existing back problems, and he's been a terrible 1st round pick so far. Angelo has a history of sucking at the offensive line, both with Tampa and the Bears. He's yet to draft even one good starter in a decade at the job in Chicago. It would be one thing if he spent a lot of 2nd/3rd/4th round picks while adding depth, but the guy either spends a 1st round pick (2 busts and a don't know yet) or a 6th, ignoring everybody else. It's like Hendry with the outfield situation for years. They were desperate to fill it so they had to get Soriano, and the Bears have been desperate to fill the line so they've had to spend insane money on Pace plus 2 recent 1st round picks. Very poor management of the group. I totally get questioning Angelo on his management of the group, especially not drafting them with regularity and in different levels (both in respect to drafted rounds and expectant talent). But implying his 1st rd picks are garbage whenever he pulls the trigger is a bit misleading.
