  1. So in thinking of the current MVP race Orton has to be up there. Brees, Peyton and Favre right now I would think lead it pretty easily. Then after that its either AP or Orton in my mind. Considering his team is undefeated, his 9-1 ratio (with one pick being a hail mary), and the adverse situation he came in on I would say he is definitely top 5 right now. Opinions? I wondering if it is my Purdue bias blinding me. Roethlisberger could join them if he gets his ratio better and Pittsburgh stops losing. I would also put Schaub in with Roethlisberger.
  2. Younger? Yeah I was wondering how it was all done. What is the vut off for oldest and youngest. If the guy gets in one game in 2000 is he eligible for oldest? Also what are the cut offs for minimums? Like the minimum at bats for avg or innings for era. Like Pedro's ERA of 3.01. There are a lot of relievers who probably got to 800-1000 and had a lower ERA. Heck Mariano had around 700 innings in the 2000's and ERA around 2.00.
  3. Why are the Raiders trading McFadden? They've apparently made everyone available except Asomugha. Whoever said that is exaggerating. No way Davis will let McFadden or Heyward-Bey go. Those are his babies. Like I said it is probably an exaggeration. They are probably trying to trade a lot of guys to get draft picks but the young, highly touted ones I seriously doubt are amongst the players available.
  4. I highly doubt it. Molock is in the 2012 class, Randle the 2011. Randle's class is the important one because that is when Hummel, Moore and Johnson all leave. We need to get some scorers in that class that can contribute right away. Also Painter is the one recruiting Randle and he only goes for the top recruits that he wants most.
  5. So I hadn't read a lot about Sandi Marcius yet. After doing so I am very excited to see him play. He has size at 6'10" 240lbs and supposedly is very athletic and able to shoot from 15 feet. He's raw and new to the U.S. but seems to have the potential to be great.
  6. I really think you're putting too much of this on the quarterback. Collins hasn't been good this year, but the 0-6 record is 100% because of the entirety of the team. It's time to go with Vince Young, but I don't think him playing over Kerry would have resulted in any more wins - or probably any better stats. The team as a whole is just severely underachieving and no one position will change any of that. The reason I agree that you make a change here is because playoff chances this year are basically zero. Put in Vince after the bye (which, if that was Fisher's thinking, I like it) when he has Jacksonville and Buffalo to start out with and see if he can be the quarterback of the future. If not, target one in the draft. I agree its not just the QB. The secondary is crap right now which is mainly due to injuries although the change to man from zone hasn't worked either and Fisher should have demanded it be changed back. However, with all that said the team was in the first couple games and largely due to Collins choking in the 4th quarter came up short. After a couple of those games the teams confidence went all to hell and the team has essentially imploded. They need a spark and VY can be that by turning a crap play into 20 yards with his feet. I still think this team has the talent to be very good but they just need to get the confidence up.
  7. LOL at that last part. Um, Lions? Eh, once in the entire history of the NFL is still kind of unheard of. I agree with a lot of what he said though. Fisher for some reason is being incredibly stupid and stubborn. Put in Young and let him run a week of practice with the 1's so he has a fair chance. He might not do any better but you can't do any worse. I realize there have been a lot of drops but Collins is also missing open guys. By a mile sometimes too. Also if the team lacks confidence in the QB that can affect everything including drops. Plus Young can at least scramble a lot to keep the chains moving.
  8. We're potentially replacing four guys?
  9. Yeah my parents were in town this week and I forgot I had to get a new kicker and defense. What I frequently do is draft a backup at either kicker or defense (whichever position my regular has an earlier bye week), then after that bye week drop the fill-in kicker or defense and pick up a fill-in at the other position. That strategy works unless both have the same bye week, as happened with you. I would very very much prefer to draft another WR or RB that has potential than waste a spot on defense or kicker. The more players with potential you draft the higher the chance of having one pan out.
  10. I would say Minn, Dal, and SF are all as good or better than the Packers. Going 5-1 would be tremendous for you guys. 49ers enter the stretch that determines their season. Got @Hou, @Ind, Tenn, Chi, @GB and Jack. Got to get one of two on the road against Indy and Houston and then win at home. If we can do that we will be in good position to win the position. None of those six are going to be easy though. Tennessee is obviously down right now but they will likely be healthier when we play them and we can't really dominate their secondary unless Crabtree is able dominate instantly which I highly doubt.
  11. Yeah my parents were in town this week and I forgot I had to get a new kicker and defense.
  12. How many backup QB's in the league would you take to start on your team? That's the question I should've posed. There's actually more strength at the QB position this year than in quite some time. Still, there's a lot of starters out there that suck or aren't very good. Seneca Wallace may be one of the better backup QB's in the league, but that doesn't change the fact that he's not that great of a quarterback. I don't know how anyone can say a player who has done pretty well in the few opportunities he has gotten is not that great. The point is we don't know. Every year there are backups in the league that somewhere down the line get their shot and turn out to be very good. Some can be low drafted young players who are still buried on the depth chart. The one that comes immediately to mind is Nate Davis for obvious reasons. He showed a lot poise in the preseason and just about everyone on the 49ers message board I belong to want to see what he can do next season as the starter. However, right now he's technically a 3rd stringer. I say technically 3rd because its obvious to anyone who watches the 49ers games he's actually the backup.
  13. 5 minutes of stoppage. Ended up being more since CR was stalling and subbing. We were very unlucky not to beat them 4-2 (or more). We had a ton of early chances and simply didn't finish. Yeah it was one of those weird games. We mostly dominated the play and had a lot of real close chances where we either missed a virtual easy goal or their goalie made a great save. They had few chances but made the shot when it counted. Kinda feel bad for Costa Rica but part me sees as payback for trying stalling tactics so blatant they got a coach sent off for it.
  14. Carney is one. Favre was in the league but third string w/ the Falcons, so he wasn't in. Nope. Isn't Feagles like 43? Matt Turk is also over 40 I believe. Those are the only ones I can think of.
  15. Not to mention the Bears lucked out against Pittsburgh without Polamalu and the Seahawks without Hasselbeck and Lofa. And we were missing Urlacher, Tinoisamoa, and Clark for both of those games. You have to look at both sides of the coin. You can't just say we lucked out due to key injuries on the opposing team when we ourselves had key injuries. In the case of Hasselbeck's injury, its not like he was replaced by some nobody. Seneca Wallace is a pretty good QB. There's no such thing as a good backup QB in the NFL. Seneca Wallace really isn't that good. What? So you're saying backup QBs don't have varying degrees of talent? That Seneca Wallace = Caleb Hanie? Really though, my point is that the gap between starter and backup in Seattle is much smaller than the gap on most teams. Look at the Bears and Packers. Hasselbeck was a backup at one point. So was Matt Schaub and pretty much every starter in the NFL. They almost all start out as backups. How about Kurt Warner? Was out of the NFL and then brought in to backup Trent Green.
  16. No disrespect, but don't you think those opponents are looking at the Panthers as their opportunity to get well? Every week you look at your opponent as an opportunity. Difference is Carolina actually has talent.
  17. Call what you like but I would rather have Manning's 36 for 44 309 yards 3 TD's and 1 INT over Hasselbeck's 18-30 241 yards 4 TD's
  18. That's higher than I thought I would be. Back-to-back top 10's isn't too bad.
  19. Yeah you guys should get JaMarcus Russell.
  20. Considering I had about 4 posts directly before IMB's post complaining about how stupid the play was I figured it would be obvious (and many others complaining about the 49ers in general). I was wrong.
  21. I fail to see how Bly's play is funny. Ummm I figured it was a fairly obvious joke. I'm a 49ers fan so what Bly did isn't funny ... its infuriating.
  22. I fail to see how Bly's play is funny.
  23. One of the dumbest things I have seen. Celebrating a TD at the 50 are you kidding me! That's when I changed the channel because I was on my laptop at the time and almost chucked it.
  24. Indianapolis
  25. Not to my knowledge. Even if there is it is impossible to enforce. Legs used to get shattered on punts so they all got taught that if someone dives at them to just pick up the second foot and fall to the ground. How do you penalize someone who is trying to avoid his leg getting broken. I didnt know that, I just assumed they did it to try to get the roughing call. It's a mixture of both obviously but when punters first started picking up the second foot it was to avoid injury. The whole reason fro the rules is because that plant foot is easy to break. It is flexed and serves as the only thing touching the ground so any somewhat serious contact will snap it.
