  1. rotoworld says Blount backed out of the deal with the 49ers. but that doesn't answer my question. did he verbally say he would sign with them and then decided not to or has he already signed and now he wants out? the first may be slightly concerning (if at all), but it's not the huge deal Bum is making it out to be. I haven't found the reason for Blount's change of heart. It's the LenDale White trade.
  2. They're just as stupid in college football. [-(
  3. Drop Pena, pick up Nelson Cruz Drop Wieters, pick up Heyward Thanks
  4. I could care less that it involved my team. Like I said I didn't understand the point in signing him. However if getting an opportunity to play is so important to him (who isn't it important to) then maybe he shouldn't have agreed to sign so quick. It just shows he still is pretty immature. He should have seen that the 49ers have Gore, a 3rd rd pick for the year before and a current draftee who are all large, power backs and thus he had little to no shot of actually playing. He should have thought it through and he didn't. It gets back to his negative label.
  5. I hadn't really looked at anything other than his season totals but wow. He is beyond woeful right now. Aaron Miles could do better than that. Heck even Pujols could do that even though he is fallen off.
  6. Wait really? If so the guy has more problems then I thought. Like I said before I was confused by the signing since we have two power backs already and drafted one this season but for a guy already labeled a headcase to back out of a deal shows a complete lack of integrity. I would assume the LenDale White trade spurred it and it is a better opportunity for him but wow.
  7. A Carlos collaboration would be stupendous. Carlos Silva goes 7, Carlos Zambrano holds the 8th and Carlos Marmol saves.
  8. No Andrew Luck in the top 10 is pretty crazy. He has a chance to be the top pick if he progresses this season. Didn't see a couple guys who I think are top-20 guys like CB Ras-I Dowling (Virginia) and RB Ryan Williams (Virginia Tech). The WR class is going to be incredibly sick - Green, Jones and Baldwin are all legit top 10 picks. And Floyd should be. If he really falls into the late 1st round as that site projects some team is going to get lucky. Although I grant that he has injury concerns that would make falling in the draft more likely for him. If Floyd has another injury he will plummet and even without one his peak is 15-20 in my opinion unless he has an unworldly season and great combine.
  9. I can strong reasons for Tebow and Dez but Berry makes no sense.
  10. tommy hanson turned 23 in august last year and had 2 years of full-season ball under his belt, including spending most of the previous year at AA. starlin castro just turned 20 a month ago and has played only 1 year of full-season ball, most of which was spent in A ball. hanson starting the year in AAA was in large part a financial decision; starting castro in AA has a lot more to do with not rushing the player and hurting his development. Yes but it seems to be that Castro is ready to join the big leagues. He showed it in ST and has shown it in the minors. I don't think he can really develop any more down there. He has maxed out the development he could get in the minors. Please explain how he's maxed out in development in the minors. That's ridiculous. Because he is hitting over .400 in three weeks of AA ball. Come on it's obvious.
  11. it's a good thing magdal posted this here and not on a cardinals board. on a cardinals board it would have been locked for trolling. but here it can be mocked with impunity. Well he is a Cardinals fan ... err Cubs fan ... I mean Cards fan ... wait it's Cubs ... no Cards
  12. it's "moot" not "mute" I don't need a facepalm now you deserve two facepalms cubbiebum, you too denial is not healthy
  13. 1. What makes everything else moot is all the stuff that has been posted showing Pujols hasn't really fallen off. you mean mute No I mean moot. http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/mute.html http://languagerules.wordpress.com/2006/09/25/moot-point-not-mute-point/ http://btr.michaelkwan.com/2010/04/16/grammar-101-mute-point-or-moot-point/
  14. You're forgetting Byrd, who is hitting .338 and OPSing .923. You are correct. Over looked him because he didn't start today.
  15. Theriot hasn't exactly sucked so far this season.
  16. It would seem your skills as a mod have fallen off.
  17. 5 players hitting over .300 (Theriot, Fukudome, Colvin. Soriano, Soto), 4 OPSing over .800 (Fukudome, Colvin, Soriano, Soto), 2 OPSing over 1.000 (Soto, Colvin), 1 OPSing over 1.100 (Colvin). btw Soto has the highest OBP of anyone with more than 30 AB's this season at .527.
  18. I actually wanted the Seahawks to get this guy. He will be practice squad for the 1st season but a good blocker and a thumper could be a mean "protection" guy I know it's a good player to get as an UDFA but just a bit curious for a team like the 49ers who already have players who run very similar.
  19. Best non-Magdal post of the thread so far
  20. 1. What makes everything else moot is all the stuff that has been posted showing Pujols hasn't really fallen off. 2. No one has argued about the Cards only beating sub-.500 teams. No one knows if that means anything yet. It's impossible to know until they play more above-.500 teams. What is known is that they were the favorites in the division and currently sit atop the division.
  21. The Broncos get an A, the Panthers get a C, and Rick Gosselin gets a WTF. I saw one on NFL.com that gave the Panthers a low grade. His reasoning made no sense. He said they did what they should have done an went QB and WR. He gave them a low grade because they should have done it years ago. You can't give grades out based on failings of previous drafts. That is moronic. To make it better he gave the Raiders a high grade. If you did rankings based on previous drafts they should get an F for the next couple years no matter what. It amazes and really pisses me off how many awful columnists are out there when so many good ones can't get jobs. Someone sounds awfully bitter. Having 30k in loans for a degree that has done nothing for me will do that but for the record I have been amazed at how many bad columnists are out there since I was in high school. I know I can write and you guys disagree because of how I write on a message board. We've covered this so let's drop it and not derail the thread. Getting back on topic. A WR from the Div. II school my mother teaches at (Newberry) was picked up by Minnesota. I guess he runs a sub-4.4 but is 5'8".

  23. There is all kinds of awesomeness in this thread. -Pujols has fallen off, never mind he had his best season ever last season. -Pujols has fallen off he is having a month slightly below his career average OPS for the first month of the season. -Pujols has fallen off despite having two full months to begin the season in 2007 a lot worse than this season's April (.832, .916, respectively). -Pujols has fallen off despite being on pace to beat his career high in HR's by 10 and career high in RBIs by 15. And perhaps my favorite ... "The league has picked up on it and he has not been given an IBB for 3 games...that has GOT to be a record." His career high in IBBs is 44 which was last year. That happened in 160 games so that's roughly 1 every 4 games. hmmmmm But wait it gets better. He is 202 career IBBs in 1416 games which is less than 1 out of every 7. Pujols career average is to go 6 games in between each IBB but going 3 games must be some kind of record. Two last points: -I don't care what anyone says there is no such thing as a Cubs/Cardinals fan. If you think you are a fan of both then you are a fan of neither in my book. Just my opinion though. -Pujols' Baseball Reference page is indeed screwed up Nuts&Gum. I get an error message when going for his splits as well.
  24. Not sure what to make of the the Blunt signing. The guy obviously has potential but we have Gore and Coffee and Blunt is a similar runner.
