  1. Not that stupid to have the Cardinals in the title game. I did it too. Cardinal. maybe he meant Louisville ;) No he picked Luhiville to lose already, despite being a supposed Big East fan :-k .
  2. No my argument isn't he will get more line drive hits. My argument is whoever the batter is in front of great hitters will see better pitches and with better pitches they will have a better chance to get the type of hits they get. Theriot doesn't hit homeruns so he gets the other type of hits which inlcudes line drive hits. Pie is a .215 hitter with a .271 OBP right now. Does he have loads of potential to be a heck of a lot better than that obviously he does. But potential is potential. Just because some one produces in the minors doesn't mean he will in the bigs. You don't throw a guy who has played little into leadoff unless they proved in that little time they may be able to handle it. Pie hasn't done that yet. Heck his big knock is he doesn't keep his patience. Theriot batted .266 last year and right now thats is better than Pie has shown he is capable of doing. Theriot isn't a good leadoff option but we don't have a better one other than maybe Derosa but I prefer speed at the top.
  3. Penn State will get pressured into the right hire by boosters. Believe me I think it might take the failure of the first coach to make booster's demand it. Not like they have dealt with demanding a coach ever.
  4. Not that stupid to have the Cardinals in the title game. I did it too.
  5. Yeah the game is crazy. That Curry kid is a better player right now than say Eric Gordon.
  6. Your eyes deceive you. Those "easy" plays that Cedeno is botching? Theriot isn't even able to get to a lot of those balls on his best days. It isn't really fair to ding Cedeno for a play that Theriot wouldn't have made either. 1.) Theriot is the worst hitter on this team. Leadoff hitters get the most PA of any person on the team. Logically, there is no conceivable way that you can defend Theriot batting leadoff. None. The worst hitter on the team should not be the one we send to the plate most often, not in any circumstance. 2.) RBI's mean almost nothing. 3.) Wouldn't Theriot getting better pitches to hit be a bad thing? He doesn't have enough power to do any real damage with them... and if the pitchers are making sure not to walk Theriot, his offensive value is lower than Cedeno's floor. 1. How does Cedeno get to balls Theriot can't? Theriot is every bit as quick as Cedeno. And really where were all these Cedeno defense fans up until a month or two ago. 2. Pie is a worse hitter right now than Theriot. Does he has the potential to be better, of course, but he has yet to show it in the bigs. 3. RBIs mean nothing??? Sure it doesn't matter who gets them, but Soriano batting with a guy on base is much better than Theriot and just about everyone else on this team. This is why I'm not going crazy about Theriot being leadoff. Would I prefer a better hitter, sure, but we all know if Theriot isn't leadoff Soriano would be with Lou. Would you rather Soriano get on base and then Theriot try to bat him in or Theriot get on base and Soriano try and bat him in? 4. Getting better pitches isn't mall about hitting homeruns. Thats just the same as saying hitting is all about getting homeruns. If Theriot sees better pitches that means he will get more hits. Will they be homeruns? No like you say he doesn't have the power for it, but his average would likely be higher.
  7. I don't know I just think he will be very good this year. He has so many pitches he can throw.
  8. 1. Peen State won't hire anyone big when JoePa retires. If you don't know joePa is one of the lowest paid coaches in the Big Ten and always has been. He says he just doesn't need millions. He's paid something like 500k. No marquee coach is going to take a huge paycut to go there. 2. I want IU to rehire Sampson or Davis, but thats because I'm a Purdue fan.
  9. You do realize the reason Pearl feel off the face of the Earth was because he made it public hat a recruit told him he was choosing a different school because they offered him money and new SUV. I would say he doesn't like cheaters.
  10. I think you are forgetting about one Carlos Zambrano. :-" I think you're forgetting Zambrano doesn't bat everyday and bats as a pitcher. He does have the most power on the team though.
  11. You're right looked it up they're from Aurora, California. I had been told by my friend who is a fan of theirs that they were from Chicago. Wow was he wrong (and me for taking his word for it).
  12. I think you are forgetting about one Carlos Zambrano. :-"
  13. Yeah I was going to mention the Zito signing. Richest in history and the guy can't even pitch to Marquis' level. I think its karma for the Giants supporting Barry for so long \:D/
  14. Theriot is the better defensive player. Yeah Cedeno may come up with a few extra spectacular plays but he will blow a heck of a lot more easy ones than Theriot. The way I have looked at this Theriot leading off situation is I would rather have him lead off then Soriano. their difference in on-base % last year was less than .010. I can live with putting Theriot in lead off if that means Soriano gets to bat 2nd and have the chance at getting more RBIs. Plus something I haven't seen mentioned (I didn't read every single page of this thread) is that being in front of Soriano Lee Ramirez means Theriot should see some better pitches to hit.
  15. I would say favorite is Bruce Pearl right now. Until yesterday I said no way because Tennessee is better program than IU right now because IU is losing everything and reputation is a bit tarnished. However my opinion changed when I heard Pearl makes 1.3 mil. Might sound like a lot but isn't but roughly average in the big conferences. Now you might expect him to get a raise after this year but it won happen. He has the identical salary to Pat Summit (and I believe the football coach too). Tenn. has made it a point for Summit to get at least equal to the men's coach. You may think that's stupid because the men make more than women idea. But when you consider Tennessee sells out every women's game and out draws the men its not true whatsoever. And since Summit has won multiple NC and is one of the winniest coaches of all time Pearl will not be getting a raise. Now if Pearl decides to go to IU (he has ties to Indiana with his first head coaching job being in the state) he would probably make 2 million plus. If Pearl doesn't get it I don't see how Alford wouldn't He wouldn't cost too much (I really doubt IU considers cost into who they higher) because he has made it known he wants the IU job. He would make the old-timers who love Bobby Knight and went crazy over higher a cheater happy, and the new-school people who want a young face to lead. Another bonus is there would be no buyout to get Alford. He has a clause put into all his coaching contracts that if IU offers him the head coaching job he can leave no strings attached.
  16. Yeah they've been kicking butt and taking names lately. Good thing I took them to win it all.

  18. forgot that was what started this because I decided to read all the suggestions before following the link. But after reading all the posts wanted to post my suggestion. I Google searched for ideas and came upon the blog and in haste posted it in my post. I apologize for my idiotic move.
  19. I actually quite like this suggestion. That freaky laugh would be great. However here is my pick ... One Step Closer by Linkin Park. Has a killer rip on it and has the part where they say "Shutup" over and over again that could be the lyrics part. Them being from Chicago is also a pretty cool bonus. Maybe since they are form Chicago they would give permission to change the "Shutup when I'm talking to you" part to "Shutup when I'm pitching to you." That would unique and absolutely phenomenal for a closer intro. Here's a link to the video for those who can't remember the song. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2114085933693353892&q=one+step+closer&total=9457&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0 And for those of you who didn't see, a Tribune blog was written about this the other day.
