    just a point of clarification- in the miles example, there is a fourth option of hitting him the head repeatedly with a tire iron and leaving him in a ditch. it can be either an AL or NL ditch.

    the "strength" argument is pretty weak. hes what 5-11 or so and weighs about 180 maybe? im a lanky 6-0 190 and i guarantee that if i had the eye-hand coordination of a big league ballplayer that I have plenty of strength to hit home runs. the answer lies more in his approach. remember that he used to switch hit as well...maybe his natural swing will just take longer to develop.

    i agree that the fanbase is turning for the worse. they are becoming caricatures of themselves. i am a lifer and a large part of the fanbase annoys and embarrasses me with their lack of knowledge and respect. plus we need to quit playing that dumb song after wins at home.

    ive been pimping hill for 2 years as the backup. hes a great guy and solid ballplayer. he has hit well here for the past two years.

    the problem was theriot's indecision. he did NOT go directly home...he thought about turning two. going home was the correct decision, but he wasnt sure of it and it cost him.

    living in DSM ive seen a ton of hill and am completely comfortable with him as a backup. his comeback story just makes it that much sweeter.

    ive lurked on this board for the last few years, but i am certainly not here very often. why is everyone's opinion of hoffpauir so low? people say he cant hit lefties, doesnt have a position, is a AAAA player, etc... we need to do something with him. he has a reasonable amount of trade value right now. he has hit at every level...the reason he's still in the minors is not because of his skill set...its because HES BEHIND DERREK LEE. maybe a greater baseball mind can help me understand the lack of hoff-love.

    this is a massive cell over chicago but i think wrigleyville is almost in the clear

    ive heard a ton of interviews with and regarding hart here in DSM, and they all lead me to believe that he has been a starter his entire career and he is simply not comfortable in a relief role at this point. im fine with that for now, let him pitch every five days, because i think he has a future in our rotation.

    i believe you get a fourth option year if you have been a pro 5 years or less

    does epatt really need to be "converted"? he's played a lot of CF in the minors. he has a lot more power and power potential than theriot, so i dont think thats a fair comparison.

    i dunno about you guys, but i was very skeptical when chip and stoney left, even though i wasnt a chip caray fan. i think len kasper is absolutely fantastic.

    hill is done. i watched him tonight in dsm and he didnt get out of the first. his mechanics are completely effed. he just looks awkward.

    i believe murton is in his extra option year this year, so this is it. this is his 5th year in pro ball.
