  1. Pffft, you clearly haven't heard of a young guy named David Patton have you? Oh wait...
  2. Other users posting from this IP Tarver Awwww, why'd you have to go and ruin it for us? This has been the best joke account ever
  3. Didn't even get to take a shower. Poor guy
  4. No specific rumors, just that we found out that Jackson was getting pulled form his start for Daytona for unknown reasons. Combine that with this trade talk and we're putting two and two together, but anything can happen, it could just be coincidence. I'm just passing along the info
  5. The buzz around the office is that Jackson was pulled from a start today for Daytona... I don't like the sound of that
  6. I didn't catch it in the article, did it say what exactly he tested positive for?
  7. Smokies are going up against Jarrod Parker tonight. Should be a good game, we'll see if the Smokies can keep up their offense outburst against him Parker did have a pretty bad outing his last time at home, gave up 5 runs. Either way, a few of the Smokies are gonna see a few triple digit heaters tonight :)
  8. Oh yeah, Chen was decent as well. He doesn't have an overpowering fastball by any means, but his slider, when on, is nasty. Unfortunately, it's only on about 20% of the time, the rest of the time he's serving up meatballs. He's lucky the BayBears were in a funk, otherwise they'd be matching the Smokies home run output. But yeah, when his slider was working it had some serious bite to it, the rest of the time he was hanging it, and always hanging it over the plate, never out of the zone.
  9. This is an unbelievably awesome trade for the Pirates. A top pitcher AND you're not on the hook for any of Sanchez's remaining salary? I'm jealous.
  10. Cashner was sharp last night despite the walks. I'm uploading the video to the AZ servers right now, I'll try and weasel some away after its done later. According to our radar guns, Cashner topped out at 99mph. In the first inning or two his fastball averaged between 95 and 98. He only hit 99 once as far as I can remember. In the later innings he was averaging about 91-94, but he dialed it up a few times to reach 97 and 98. He was good. Shockingly, Cody Evans was doing great but they pulled him and then the Cubs demolished the BayBears again. Of all the home runs hit by the Cubs, only one of them was a "just barely", the rest were no doubters. Castillo's were epic, one of them hit the top of what we call "BayBear Mountain", it's a hill in left field where fans can sit. The top of it is about 25 feet past the wall. I'll try and make a compilation video of Cashner's outing as well as the HR's the Smokies have hit sometime later, probably this weekend
  11. I believe Cody Evans is pitching for the BayBears the 2nd game of the double header tonight. Cody Evans is... uh... not that good. Tennessee should be teeing off later tonight.

  13. that's not a very accurate list at all Was quoting Baseball America
  14. Carlos Carrasco #2 prospect Lou Marson #3 prospect Jason Donald #4 prospect Jason Knapp #10 prospect Pretty good haul for the Tribe.
  15. I had no idea it was a John Cena thing. I just thought he was a big fan of Talladega Nights.
  16. Crasnick pretty much did a virtually identical article today on ESPN... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?columnist=crasnick_jerry&page=starting9/090729 I think Marte could be a late bloomer in the sense that Cruz was a late bloomer, not sure about the rest of them. Maybe Delmon Young will one day put it all together but I doubt it
  17. Nope, you've evaluated that one poorly. I'd suprised if we see him again prior to the rosters expanding...but not because the Cubs have given up on him 'once and for all'. I think Patton is still rehabbing his groin actually. He only threw 40 pitches or so the other night against the BayBears and they pulled him after 2 runs scored on errors after the 2nd. I can only piece together that it's because of the injury. I was secretly hoping they released him or tradedf him or something. Didn't happen :( They let Jeremy Papelbon throw the majority of the game. Hopefully if Patton is fully healthy they continue to keep him down in AA, he doesn't belong on the MLB roster.
  18. http://cubsminors.wikispaces.com/AtkinsM This year has been his worst year in the minors. Looking at his stats it looks like he is equally as bad vs. lefties and righties. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_444444.jpg He looks like Herman Munster
  19. He's been having knee issues this year as far as I know, which is why he wasn't called up despite some pretty good numbers. This is a fleecing for the Pirates. Good deal, IMO. Clement was their #1 prospect last year and could still be a good offensive catcher in the future when his knee heals. Though his defense behind the plate isn't spectacular form what I've read. Wilson was a joke and cost too much, Snell could come back to bite them, I still think he's got a decent future ahead of him. He's lighting up AAA like it's nobody's business. That's a pretty good haul for the Pirates, IMO
  20. How much money or alcohol could it take to get a Mobilean? You'd be surprised at the quality looking girls around Mobile. But that's just looks, 80% of the hot chicks you see down here are either rednecks who swill Natty or stuck up old south money prudes. That being said, these were rich girls visiting from Atlanta, so they were probably quality. They told them they were pitchers for the Cubs minor league team and they didn't believe them.
  21. Rained out. Hell yeah it was. Brutal. Our fire alarms went off. And now I have to get up to the stadium at 6AM to pull the tarp off the field  Oh yeah, apparently David Patton and Jay Jackson were buying drinks for one of my friends and all her girlfriends last night at a bar. Trying to get that road tang.
  22. Good reads if you're bored with nothing to do. Tim Kurkjan's Article Crasnick's article Schoenfield's Article (includes a piece on Prior and Wood)
