  1. Wright's defense is definitely overrated, but that's about it. Offensively he's one of the best 3B in the game
  2. Cano? Teixeira? Both? Z and Soto are both really good at baseball. Z makes a little too much for what he provides, and Soto is one of the most valuable assets in the game. To be fair, Montero is arguably also one of the most valuable assets in the game. If Montero pans out, he'll be Soto. If Montero pans out and fulfills his promise, Montero's average year will probably be the same as whatever Soto can accomplish at his peak. And he'll be in his early 20's doing it instead of his late 20's.
  3. David Wright is overrated? The guy with the career 135 OPS+ over 7 years who hasn't even reached the age of 28 yet? That David Wright?
  4. That dude is a fat mess... but man does he have a truckload of power
  5. No one has apparently picked it up, and Rotoworld even posted an update about Lee with no indications of a SD deal
  6. I thought the same thing, and just saw this on MLBTR Looks like Webb isn't on their radar
  7. Hmmm... I figured after getting rid of Gonzalez they'd just move Kyle Blanks there and save the money
  8. I keep glancing over the title when I come here and for a split second I think I'm reading "Z traded to Yanks... WOW" and it freaks me out. That being said even though they could easily take on his salary, they won't. Just to have a little fun discussing it however, who else is in their system that's worth a damn besides Montero? Only other one I can think of off the top of my head is maybe Dellin Betances.
  9. He's a huge question mark. He bounced back a bit last year and was good, but he wasn't anything tremendously special, though he does provide an excellent GB%. The question is was this season kind of a fluke year or will he be able to become better than he was to regain his form from a few years back. I don't know. He'd be worth looking into, but if a lot of teams are after him he'd probably cost at least one valuable bargaining chip and I don't know if I'd be willing to give that up for someone you can't be sure on
  10. Pay for all his salary this year and demand Jesus Montero in return...... And get laughed at
  11. It would also give us one more white guy to help bring up the team morale
  12. Interesting. If he manages to stay healthy at least he'll be in a spacious ballpark to help his numbers out. Sucks his career has sort of fizzled out a bit, he was so damn good for us when we traded for him
  13. I keep thinking there is because this thread keeps getting updated, but it's all lies
  14. Could've sworn I already posted this but now it isn't showing up for me anymore... IIRC he is trending downward and his skillset compares favorably to a bunch of other players who tend to fall off the cliff in their early 30's due to a diminishing skillset and physical limitations because of their size, and he turns 31 next season. For the production he provides now, his contract is somewhat justifiable (if not a little over the top) but by the end of the contract they could be paying a premium price for a not-so-premium player
  15. When your best option to start behind the plate is Francisco Cervelli and you have a 20-year old catcher mashing at AAA in the minors primed to take over for the foreseeable future, you tend to want to hold on to that. That being said, if they were dumb enough to part with him for Zambrano or Dempster, I wouldn't even try and flip him for Greinke. I'd keep him and shop Soto instead
  16. IIRC, he's been trending downward and his skillset compares favorably to a bunch of players who tailed off in their early 30's, which he is about to enter, due to declining skills and physical limitations so there's a chance they could be paying a premium salary for a not-so-premium player in the next couple of years.
  17. Another possible acquisition war with the Nats? First Pena, then Webb, now Garza? From all the names I've heard, they can beat us on Garza if they'd like. Agreed... I'll be a little miffed if they acquire him for prospects that are worse than the ones they've been rumored to want from us though
  18. Another possible acquisition war with the Nats? First Pena, then Webb, now Garza?
  19. New feature developed by MLBTR that tracks all transactions that can be sorted by team, general manager, agency, player, size of contract, type of transaction, etc. It's pretty cool, check it out: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/transactiontracker
  20. I think someone posted them a while back in this thread but I didn't spot them, so I dug them up... Lilly with the Blue Jays 04-06 2004: 4.60 2005: 4.74 2006: 4.52 Lilly with Cubs 07-09 2007: 4.31 2008: 4.14 2009: 3.98 His 2010 combined between Cubs and Dodgers was 4.16
  21. I'd love to see a baseball team on the Gulf Coast, but football dominates and the Gulf coast is already littered with minor league teams. Oh well
  22. It's called exaggeration. People around here tend to read things literally
  23. For the reasons TT outlined, now would be a good time to trade Lee but you have to think there is better value at a position of need than Matt Garza. Kevin Slowey is available, but he's worse than Garza... but there were some rumblings that some teams also called on the Twins for Francisco Liriano and the word was they don't have a reason to move him (which is true), but I wonder if they are open to the idea. Anyone who has dealt with me in Fantasy Baseball knows I value Liriano more than any other player in baseball so I'm a bit biased, but if he could be had I'd try and see what it would take to pry him away slightly off topic, but i would like to get into a fantasy baseball league with you that involves money. It's not like I draft him in the first round you presumptuous dolt. That being said it's not hard to defeat me in fantasy baseball. I tend to put too much faith in young, unproven players in hopes that they have break out seasons.
  24. Seems like there would be some sort of rule against it... maybe that's why they're denying it all?
