  1. Don't they realize the Dodgers have no money? http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/mlb/news/story?id=6584013
  2. Vitters and Barney for Wright. I'd throw in more, but that's as far as I go for someone who isn't a superstar.
  3. He says "double-o-kay". They kind of look like this: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Rk6GBqQuP1E/Smai1LwJy5I/AAAAAAAAEEE/LVV1fgs1x3M/s400/OK-Fingers.gif
  4. Three troofs
  5. Rarely will Tampa trade a productive player, but they usually dont have a problem letting FAs walk. Garza Randy Wells is better. Better at what? Being injured LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=6396358 Meh.
  7. Whatever, I totally called his latissimus dorsi completely separating itself from bone 2 years ago. The writing was on the wall MMMAAAAAAANNNNNN
  8. The guy has posted an OPS+ over 100 three times in 15 seasons... and the part about his game that made him appealing (speed & defense) has more than likely gone the way of the dinosaur. We don't need him. Baker and DeWitt will do just fine compared to Castillo
  9. There's 5 of them listed on Baseball Reference. Many failed players become coaches. And believe it or not, there are people in this world who share the same name. I apologize for not brushing up on my Atlanta Braves minor league managerial trivia before asking such an absurd question
  10. I like how whenever an athlete gets injured doing something pedestrian or normal that everyone else on the planet takes for granted, the moment they get injured the chicken little's of the world are up in arms over it. Who breaks a rib playing basketball? Who gets a sore wrist chatting with their family online? Who slips out of a hot tub? Who breaks their toe hopping over a fence? Who cuts their own finger off?
  11. Is this the same Luis Salazar that played for the Cubs in the early 90's? Just reading about this made me uneasy. That's awful.
  12. Some news reports I've seen said he was in the 90's at least. Probably low 90's, but that's still good for him
  13. I am kind of perplexed at the constant rumors of them shopping Liriano. I know his value is at his highest and perhaps they don't feel his health will hold up, but they are front runners in that division if Morneau is healthy and Nathan's arm is healed. Trading away your best starter for building blocks seems like a step in the wrong direction. Considering he's under control through 2012, they don't need to trade him at all. It's kind of odd. What would be a comparable package of Nova/Chamberlain and "other pieces" for the Cubs?
  14. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=6164805 He was 84. R.I.P. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/snidedu01.shtml
  15. Youkilis isn't playing out of position at third base, he's played nearly half his professional career as a third baseman. Between the majors and minors he's played 559 games at 3B. He's played 634 at first. And IIRC, when he came up through the system his defense at third base was considered to be top-tier quality defense. Youkilis + Gonzalez > Youkilis + Beltre. EDIT: Also I find it very Chicken Little-ish that Papelbon was one of the most dominating relievers over the previous 5 years, but he has one less than stellar year and already the team, media, and fans are calling for him to be traded, cut, whatever. His ERA+ prior to last season was 255. He put up a 112 ERA+ last season which is still above average. Not up to snuff with his previous numbers, but still not atrocious, but I find it odd that people are ready to give up on him despite being an incredible closer the previous 4 seasons. Yeah, he costs a lot of money, but that's the price you pay, and if he bounces back then it makes the large payment a little easier to swallow.
  16. Thank God. Now I can continue to love him unconditionally
  17. As LaRussa said, they'll use it as a precedent to decide future salary demands. They have a vested interest in making sure that the best player in the world gets paid like it, basically This contract shouldn't determine anything with future contracts, because there isn't a single player in baseball on Pujols' level. No one can use what he gets as a bargaining chip because no one is better than he is. The Werth contract? Sure, no question. Pujols? Really?
