  1. Said on MLB Network last night that the last person who had that injury was Joel Zumaya, and he has never pitched again. Big blow for Floyd. It was ugly too. Happened to Prior, too, didn't it? :(
  2. Matt Joyce fouls off a ball in BP that bounces back into the pitching machine http://i.imgur.com/hwFL4yE.gif
  3. In relation to the others, how would you rate your machine head? Reports say it's better than the rest.
  4. No-No complete. 15K's
  5. Yeah but he loves white dudes.
  6. I'd like to think our management team and FO would have the foresight to figure out if Olt's eyes were messing with him again, not to mention he wouldn't be stubborn enough to play through the issues after how bad he was last year. I'm sure that part of him is corrected. I just think he's overmatched in a league he has little experience in and needs to work more on his approach because one of his big strengths in the minors was his plate patience and he has zero of it at the MLB level. Even last year in Iowa when he couldn't see [expletive] he had 20 walks in 39 games. He's only drawn 14 walks in 54 at the major league level. Like davell said though I think it would be nice if he got consistent playing time to work on it, but me personally I like that the Cubs aren't out of the realm of competing for a playoff spot so I'd rather the AB's go to people who can perform consistently like Valbuena. But where do you put him at AAA? I'd love for him to get some work in with Manny, but they already have Bryant and Villanueva there. Has there ever been a case of a player being blocked in a demotion to the AAA level?
  7. I never said he deserves to start if that's what you're implying. I'd actually prefer he get sent down to work with Manny but there's already two 3rd basemen on that roster who are more important than he is at the moment.
  8. he probably meant 2011 And I think Olt, if he puts it together, is capable of a 2.5 WAR season. That's what a low batting average, low OBP, solid SLG, lots of homers, an average amount of walks, a crap load of strikeouts, and below average 3B defense gets you these days. Except Olt has solid defense.
  9. And it's his first shot at a full MLB season. Age ≠ Experience Lack of experience ≠ upside. Not defending his play this year... it's been dreadful. But I'm not writing him off as a future full time player yet. Will he be a future full timer with the Cubs? Probably not given they have a flurry of better options at the position now (Valbuena) and in the very near future (Bryant, Baez, maybe Villanueva if he turns it around), but I think eventually he'll latch on and put it together enough to put up numbers comparable to Pedro Alvarez's 2012.
  10. This had to be posted with the knowledge that the best fans in baseball would revolt. I've had at least 6 people on facebook today post something like "Typical Brewers... trying to run a smear campaign against the best catcher of our generation? Yadi is better any day." They're delusional AND they can't take a joke. Even better. That said... Lucroy: .340/.401/.537/.937 156 OPS+ 8 HR 37 RBI 26 BB 31 K 3.9 rWAR 3.4 fWAR (dWAR 1.1) Molina: .283/.332/.408/.740 104 OPS+ 6 HR 26 RBI 17 BB 33 K 1.0 rWAR 1.6 fWAR (dWAR 0.4) It's not even remotely close who has been the best catcher this season.
  11. I am arguing against the notion that Barney is [expletive] blocking Olt. Olt had his chance to whip his [expletive] out and do something with it but he blew it. Barney's sucking has nothing to do with Olt's [expletive]. Not saying Olt is good at all, but it's possible for guys to blow it early in their careers and, you know, get better. Again, not saying Olt is that guy, but it happens. A lot. Olt will be 26 in two months. And it's his first shot at a full MLB season. Age ≠ Experience
  12. Castro's sexy meter continues to go through the roof... as does Stanton's
  13. That is [expletive] excellent
  14. Baltimore just lost Wieters to UCL surgery for the rest of the season. Maybe tossing in Castillo with Shark would up the ante in a Baltimore trade?
  15. I don't know that I've ever seen an opposite field homer a) get out that fast and b) get out at such a low angle. That man's power is unfair. Seriously who the [expletive] hits home runs like this? http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v33771229/chcmia-stanton-lines-a-tworun-home-run-to-right
  16. There's no way anyone would give enough. Admittedly I haven't been keeping up with Arrieta. Nice to see we have an ace in the back of the rotation.
  17. After putting Yelich on the DL and DFA'ing Randy Wolf, the Marlins called up Marisnick and Heaney today
  18. Cubs win. Also win their first road series this season. And if I heard Len correctly earlier, it's their first series win in Philadelphia since 2001
  19. Also this bit of news... Boston's pitchers have impressive numbers, but seem to have control issues at the same time. I like Owens but it looks like he sure does walk a lot of guys, and given that their pitching is "wide open" not sure how much they'll value their pitching prospects. Regardless, if you deal Samardzija to Boston, you have to ask for Betts. He's exactly what the Cubs need. Cecchini intrigues me, too. Don't like his lack of power, but his plate patience would be nice atop the order.
