  1. I can bring back improperly posted 8-bit homages if people want it. :(
  2. http://i.imgur.com/kCwrkFF.gif
  3. Not sure where we'd stuff him On a plane. To another team.
  4. Uhhh... The chart... http://i.imgur.com/uUzv3DS.jpg So not only did he say that he was thought to be a better lefty hitter vs RHP, but he then says it's false, despite the chart showing it's true, and then says he's been great as a lefty vs. LHP "As the chart above shows" and the chart shows no such statistic
  5. let's play the same game with rizzo and see what his comp would be if we gave him a magic 90 points of batting average! stop trying to make olt happen. it's not going to happen. I just said I felt like Olt's best case scenario for his career is a slightly below league average player with some power. As his peak. If that's me trying to defend Olt then... okay?
  6. With the way Olt has played, I feel like 2008 Mark Reynolds might be his best case scenario comp. .239/.320/.458/.779 96 OPS+ 28 HR 98 RBI 64 BB 204 K 1.1 fWAR
  7. I don't want to go too off topic, but I don't trust James Shields at all. Yeah, don't want Shields at all. And he'll likely get paid a ton based on reputation. Don't trust him? Reputation? What? James Shields fWAR: 2007: 4.3 2008: 3.9 2009: 3.5 2010: 1.7 2011: 4.5 2012: 3.9 2013: 4.5 With the exception of his outlier 2010 (when he had a .341 BABIP) and his rookie year when he played a partial season, he's averaged 4.1 fWAR a year. And 4.3 fWAR the last 3 years. He's also averaged 222.4 innings over the last seven seasons. He's extremely durable and very effective. If you don't trust James Shields or don't understand his reputation then I'm not sure what else to say. He's a good pitcher. If you see anywhere I said I don't trust him or don't understand his reputation then you can't read well. Reputation = past performance. Never said it wasn't earned, just that I think the odds of him living up to his contract (which will likely be 4-5 years long) is very slim. I was referring to PleasewinCubs' issue of trust, fwiw. The reputation issue in regards to overpaying for past performance I understand completely, and I agree. But saying he'll get paid a ton based on reputation is a little different than saying he'll get paid a ton on past performance. Of course he'll get paid a ton based on his reputation. Right now, his reputation is he's been a dependable pitcher for 7 years. A team will overpay for that. I don't think the Cubs should sign him in the slightest because of his age, but no one suggested that.
  8. Old yes, and I'm not too interested in picking him up because of that, but to not understand why he would be a valuable commodity seems a little oblivious

  10. If that's supposed to be pronounced like kee-kay or something then homeboy needs to learn diacritical accent marks pronto
  11. Speaking of batflips, and even though this isn't a gif, I think Carlos Quentin's is a bit ludicrous. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/0/v34220499/cinsd-quentin-jacks-a-tworun-shot-off-ondrusek
  12. Nice fluff piece on Manny mentoring the kids http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/11159348/manny-ramirez-vows-mentor-chicago-cubs-top-prospects
  13. god these guys are idiots I feel like CJEdwards is getting off scot-free for that hot mess of a tweet posted one page back. That's like 15 different thoughts in one tweet. It reads like a hashtag heavy post without any hashtags #Threwtoday #I'mback #nopain #brandnewarm #readytogetback
  14. We wouldn't have Feldman if we had Tanaka. Wait, what? Feldman signed the year before Tanaka was posted. Guessing he meant Hammel
  15. I hear Jake Arrieta once got a 1-2-3 inning in basketball.
  16. Awwww Junior Lake is mad because he can't hit baseballs
  17. Hypothetical question out of boredom: The Cubs, in a bold maneuver, call up Alcantara, Bryant, Baez, and Manny. Despite it being too early for Baez, maybe a little too early for Bryant, and Manny being more or less a below average bat at the MLB level at this point in his career... do the Cubs become legit contenders for the 2nd wild card?
  18. Jose Abreu is ruining everything
  19. The Cubs FO expected that to be the case, correct? Hence why they overspent last year?
  20. Wow. Not only is there some crazy stuff in there, it's fascinating to see how a team's FO interacts in regards to trades. I absolutely would have traded Correa and Springer for Stanton
  21. I definitely noticed the stance adjustment this season.
