  1. Flip a coin with those two. They're both awesome. I'd prefer Upton though. Better offensive pedigree, and he'd play a position of need vs. RF where we have Soler. Obviously you can move guys around to accommodate, but I think I'd rather have an OF of Upton/Alcantara/Soler vs. Heyward/Alcantara/Soler (presuming one of those guys isn't moved in a deal for them). But I'd rather give up the farm for Stanton, if possible
  2. I would love it if Rickets approached the owners like R.J. Fletcher in UHF just wide-eyed and crazy and all like "I'M GONNA BUY THIS PLACE AND TURN IT INTO A PARKING LOT"
  3. He might cost more than Stanton Yeah, at the very least it'd be a similar cost. Yeah Bautista is older, but he's as proven a commodity as Stanton, they both play corner OF, they got 2 years left (whoever has him will exercise that option no question), but Stanton might make more in arb than Bautista is earning. They're very similar players when you look at the numbers. Bautista would be nice to have, but if we're gonna give up a big chunk of our future to bring in a position player make it Stanton or don't bother at all.
  4. No way Phillies do that deal. Hamels is expensive but they aren't going to give him away for a package like that. Amaro is too bullheaded to settle for a package like that.
  5. Let's give him a one day contract
  6. No way in hell do I trade Baez for Kemp. Kemp put up nice numbers this year, but he was a butcher in the field so much that it practically leveled out his WAR and made him fairly average. I would not trade Baez for him ever. I honestly wouldn't trade much for him, especially with that contract.
  7. Though about tracking down the Peavy thread for funsies, but according to Sullivan Peavy is still interested in playing for the Cubs http://www.bleachernation.com/2014/10/20/rumor-jake-peavy-interested-in-chicago-cubs-hows-that-second-tier-of-pitching-looking/
  8. You mean the guy who got fired from that job, immediately took a position on MLB Network, and within a couple weeks of his new job had to answer awkward questions on air like "Why do you think San Diego's front office situation is such a mess right now?" Dang. Good thing I didn't put him on the real list or nobody would take me seriously... Didn't mean to insult with that, I just like bringing that situation up because seeing the defeat in Josh Byrnes face when he had to provide a legitimate analytic answer to why he got fired and why his former FO from two weeks earlier is in shambles without talking about himself was awkward bliss.
  9. Paul Rudd invites fans to party at his Mom's house: http://www.kmbc.com/news/royals-fan-paul-rudd-invites-partying-fans-to-moms-house-for-party/29155042
  10. Every clip I watched from the NLCS that showed a Giants run scored or home run Joe Buck was deadpan saying stuff like "And Buster Posey has tied this game" But when Randal Gruichuk hits a game tying home run "And Gruichuk hits it HIGH AND DEEP AND IT'S OUT OF HERE TIE BALL GAME" The fact that Cardinals fans are ridiculing him is glorious music.

  12. Royals go to the World Series. Crazy.
  13. Jose Molina is probably gonna retire given the season he's had and his age. Should bring him on as an instructor and have him work with Castillo in the offseason. Or forget about Castillo and have him work with Schwarber. Easier said than done, obviously, but it'd be cool.
  14. They're making him the Theo of the team. President of Baseball Operations. He's still going to hire a GM.
  15. You could say he hasn't... Maeda his mind up
  16. Home/Road splits for Rockies players have very little predictive value. Not only do their road games skew to pitcher's parks(a third of their road games are at Dodger Stadium, Petco, & AT&T), but there's a documented effect that since pitches move less in Denver, players aren't able to adjust as well at other elevations. If you want a practical example, look at Matt Holliday's Coors splits and how he handled transitioning to the NL Central. Fair enough, but I still don't trust him to stay healthy. A package with Baez as a centerpiece should be able to bring in a bigger fish than Gonzalez. Pun intended.
  17. If only Towers was still in charge it'd probably take Logan Watkins and Matt Szczur or something.
  18. 238 point career split in OPS. .988 at Coors and .750 away. It was even worse in his limited time this year. .945 OPS at Coors (32 games) vs. .544 OPS away (38 games). Considering he has issues staying on the field in the first place, I think if I'm trading Javy I'd rather use him for someone a little more reliable, both health and production wise.
  19. Is this 2008? Use a board style with the profile pic on the right. All the cool kids are doing it. Eww, no.
  20. If we're gonna give up prime pieces for a right fielder, they're going after the wrong right fielder. <------- NUDGE-NUDGE, WINK-WINK
  21. http://www.cubby-blue.com/.a/6a00d83451fe4669e201b8d0779811970c-800wi FWIW, this came from a Cubs illustration blog called Cubby Blue where the author makes a lot of really nice illustrations that are predominantly Cubs related. No real analysis or anything, just some fun browsing.
