    I don't want to pollute this thread with politics, but this snippet fron The Hotline struck me: Shame on them. Off to the stadium to see my boys (see avatar) take on their city rivals. Jared Jeffrey (their player from the US) isn't in the lineup.

    I would just like to point out that when Soriano uses the term "we", it obviously includes himself. So I read that statement as him accepting his part of the blame.

    I agree this sucks, but comes nowhere near the trauma of 2003. Then again, my favourite soccer team managed to cheer me up this week by qualifying for the UEFA cup group stages; I would have felt a lot worse if that wasn't the case.

    There was a meeting with an arbitrator on Sept. 10th... but from what I understand, there was too much material to be covered in one day, and they were going to work on getting another date scheduled... which could take weeks. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3602002 Lemme get this straight: the MLBPA files a grievance over a contract because it is a couple of hours late, then agrees to withdraw it in exchange for approval of a contract that is over a month late. Glad to read they have no problem with credibility. :roll:

    In an interview with a belgian newspaper, Oguchi Onyewu has stated he would stay at Standard Liège until the end of the season (also the end of his contract), but would not sgn an extension. So next summer he's a free agent and can change clubs without a transfer fee. he also said he'd like to go to the EPL.
