  1. You sound like an Ohio State fan
  2. my work here is done
  3. I think part of the defensive issues are that NFL teams often draft based more on what the player can become and not what he currently is. They focus more on size and athleticism and not so much can they tackle, read plays, or take good angles. I probably would do the exact same thing and hope that coaching will improve them. And the problem with that philosophy is that draft picks no longer sit 2nd or 3rd in the depth chart while they improve in practice. They are expected to start right away.
  4. Too many beers before that post. I was trying to say that after two knee rehabs, one questions if Rose will ever be MVP level again. If you think the answer is "no", then you have to ask if he's your #1 scoring option moving forward. If you think he's now a #2, then the only way to add a #1 scorer is via the draft or free agency. The current team, while not great, is still too good to tank for a top 3 pick (without some lottery magic), so landing that #1 guy in the draft seems unlikely.
  5. At this point, you have to think Rose is going to be a #2 option instead of "the man", meaning to truly tank it for a #1 stud is probably entirely out of the question
  6. Green font? I know he has great potential, and we've seen some of it, but he threw as many horrible passes last night as terrific ones
  7. I had a dream last night that he didn't sign yet as of opening day, and someone decided that each interested team got to use him for 1 inning of relief during an actual game, after which he'd choose who he wanted to play for. He came into a game with a special uniform on and proceeded to mow down the other team.
  8. I see it ending magnificently
  9. Okay, I'm excited for this Franklin hire, if for no other reason that it reassures me that PSU is a job people still want
  10. Interesting, as an ESPN article from about an hour ago said he had no offer and nothing was going to happen until Saturday
  11. lol @ Florida
  12. MLB Network has a panel of writers/broadcasters/whoevers on debating the HoF. In the last segment, they revealed what their ballot was (or would be if they had a vote). Outside of Maddux/Glavine/Thomas, Jack [expletive] Morris had the most votes from the panel
  13. Not finding any confirmed reports on Franklin to PSU. Everything is "he'd take the job if offered" and "the decision is still days away"
  14. He looks like a professional speaker coming before this clown
  15. The announcers made it so easy to root against Auburn. Musberger was really something else. His call of the game winning TD might as well have been for a 1st quarter score in a pre-season game
  16. Oh hey, [expletive] you Musberger. WE GET IT, WE ALL LOVE THE SEC AND WILL REMEMBER THE MAGIC MORE THAN THIS FLORIDA WHATEVER TEAM
  17. It was the right call. I know, but I remember a PSU vs. Iowa game several seasons back where Iowa had a blatant PI call in the end zone that won them the game (as PSU couldn't punch it in afterwards) BTW, could Musberger/Herbstreit be less excited about FSU winning?
  18. game-saving interference call?
  19. very few penalties this half
  20. "Auburn is stung by it's own medicine!" guh?
  21. From 95-03 his fWAR was between 4.7 and 6.9 every season. All but one year under 5, 4.7 (02'), twice went over 6, 00' (6.2) and 01' (6.9). He was inside the top 12 in the league in fWAR all 9 of those years, top 10 in 7 of 9, top 6 in 5 of the 9, and top 5 in 4 of the 9. Had the highest WAR for AL pitchers by both Fangraphs and BBR standards in 2001. Like I said, by my standards he's in. Depending on you standards I can see how he skews towards the hall of very good and not hall of fame. But if you believe Morris, Glavine and to a lesser extent Schilling should be in, Mussina should be in by whatever standards you are using for those guys. Where did I say that Morris, Glavine or Schilling should be in?
  22. Well finally. Who gets the ball to start the second half?
  23. Was Mussona ever considered one of the best in his era? Did he dominate for any stretch? He had a great career, but is he Hall of Fame or Hall of Very Good?
  24. FSU looks like hot garbage
