  1. The return of Good Kyle is accompanied by the return of No Run Support for Good Kyle
  2. If you want to run your bullpen into the ground, sure. It’s either that or guarantee a loss most nights the starter isn’t on, so yeah, you take your chances and hope the starter is better the next night. But Maddon is a spaz and when his starter gives up 1 run on 2 hits in the 3rd inning, he goes to the pen for the final 18 outs
  3. I hate this trend. Maddon is going to be quick-hooking pitchers left and right this post-season and it's going to drive me crazy The quick hook in the playoffs mostly makes sense though If you want to run your bullpen into the ground, sure.
  4. I still overwhelmingly think we will win the division but scary question: if it was today, who do you trust on the Cubs to start a 1 game playoff? Try to get 5 out of Lester then go Cishek, Edwards, Strop, Morrow? Probably depends on the opponent and who's hot. But yeah if our guys don't get it together any potential playoff run by us will look like last year's Yankees and 2016's Indians. Bullpen early and often. I hate this trend. Maddon is going to be quick-hooking pitchers left and right this post-season and it's going to drive me crazy
  5. Do you know Oakland is ten games over .500? Go ahead, look it up
  6. I knew an Old Style meltdown would happen eventually, but didn't think this would be what set him off
  7. A repeat of his WBC shenanigans would do nicely
  8. An awful lot of whining for people that don't hate them. The guy's posts are like 98% negative. Venting frustration about Bryant's lack of homers or Chatwood sucking all the ass or Rizzo running hot and cold =/= hating the team
  9. Literally no one here "hates this Cubs team". Come on
  10. He has a crazy batting average split this season with bases empty vs. RISP (.203 vs. .326), and he's driven the majority of his runs in without the HR (9 of his 12 HR are solo shots).
  11. Unsurprisingly they lead the NL in runs scored. Despite having no DH, they're tied with the Yankees in that department
  12. His last homer was on 6/24. So let's start on 6/25. IFFB% = 0.0% https://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=3473&position=1B&gds=2018-06-25&gde=2018-07-07&type=3 I'm too dumb to understand what most of those numbers mean, so I have to ask if a 51.3% RB rate is high for him? And I'm not worried about his slash line, I'm just seeing a lot of pop up and ground balls. Looking back, he raked in the Twins series, so clearly he's been good very recently, and I don't watch every single game, so my sampling of seeing his at-bats is admittedly incomplete
  13. I think this is the rare case where the eye test and the stats don't match up. "Unlucky in BABIP" is him constantly grounding into the shift and popping balls up into the infield. I'd be curious how those numbers break down by month, as he has looked terrible more often than not in the last several weeks
  14. He seems to have an extreme uppercut swing right now
  15. Why on earth would automated balls/strikes not work? Think of the catcher and stealing bases.. If the catcher doesn't need to be in a crouch the run game is gone Why.......why wouldn't he need to be in a crouch to catch a strike zone that is centered around a catcher in a crouch?
  16. They use a computerized system for out/in calls in tennis, they can do it with the strike zone. The ear piece would never work, though, because the a-hole umps would ignore it and call what they wanted Huh? How would they not get in trouble for that? They probably would, but I know I saw a video where they tried it out in a minor league (or maybe independent league) game and the umps hated it. They also talked about how they got a DVD every week breaking down their bad calls and that every ump just threw them in the garbage without watching them
  17. I think they could work just fine. Just have them back there to call plays at the plate. They use a computerized system for out/in calls in tennis, they can do it with the strike zone. The ear piece would never work, though, because the a-hole umps would ignore it and call what they wanted
  18. He threw exactly one strike to Schwarber in that strikeout
  19. Can Chilli please fix Rizzo's 75 degree swing angle?
