Maybe keep a “Tier A” of 5-8 players that everyone is limited to just one of, and then fill out the rest of the team (so you can’t have Stanton, Judge and Trout as your outfield)

If we’re just wanting to mix things up, how about scrapping the “tiers” of players and changing it so everyone has to have a complete “team” of fielders? Three outfielders plus the five infielders and a DH. Then, when you make a transaction, it has to be for the same position. If Anthony Rizzo gets hurt, you can only replace him with another first baseman. The DH slot could have any position (like a flex position in fantasy football).
