  1. That's a lot for a paper salesman OHHHH WAIT you are weirdly extrapolating this lousy metaphor to now include the actors' other roles for reasons
  2. Cubs are 52-54 since May 14. They have been the definition of “meh” for a long time
  3. No one likes Ryan Howard.
  4. I'd be lucky to make it through 3 innings before collapsing from exhaustion/sadness
  5. The greater point is that LA seems built to keep this run up much longer than the Cubs are
  6. Ha ha ha, yeah! How DARE kids have varied interests! They should devote the entirety of the prepubescent lives to a single thing, mostly to gain the favor of a retired NBA guy
  7. I can 100% see a scenario where Maddon gets canned, the front office decides that it was the manager who sucked, not the players, and come back next year with essentially the same roster and (probably) a worse manager.
  8. Even more annoying than the actual loss is this dumpster fire if a post. The Cubs CAME BACK ON THE ROAD. But they also lost, so Schwarber Fan can pat himself on the back Nope, I’ll take the win and eat crow every time over back-patting. But its obvious that this team doesn’t have that “we never quit” spirit. Most of the time when they get down, they don’t come back. And in a close game late, especially on the road, it’s like everyone is waiting for the shoe to drop. You just get the impression the players feel the same way. Except you posted this during a game where they did, indeed, fight their way back on the road
  9. If I have a transaction left: Drop Yelich, add Acuna Jr.

  11. What living soft contact BABIP hell are we witnessing here?
  12. cool cool cool
  13. Nothing is wrong with hotdogs or El Trains, it's just the lazy "what's the thing that we use every time we have a Chicago game" tropes that reduce a city (and this is any city) to a cliche.
  14. Can we have a national Cubs broadcast without hotdogs, black cats or El trains? Sports media is lazy
  15. Drop Baez, add Bregman
  16. I will probably watch this up until the Hoerner AB, then go to be
  17. I don’t know how it plays out, I’d assume Ross will be heavily rumored. I’m guessing they go with the trend of the relatively unknown guy who’s cheap and “goes by the book” and is essentially an extension of the FO in the dugout. I’d assume internally Borzello, Loretta and Venanble will be candidates, would like to keep Hottovy as the pitching coach. Externally I’d be interested in Carlos Beltran. I'm sure PTR would like it to be someone who is already on the payroll. He'll just manage them himself
  18. why would they settle for him? No idea. I’m sure they’ll look at the Gms from Minnesota, maybe Arizona or Houston....people with somewhat recent success.
  19. Not strange at all. It signals to potential GMs that the Sox are hiring, and lets them get things started well before the off season. Could we see Jed Hoyer heading to Boston?
  20. sparkling debut (so far) for Kyler Murray Also, the Bengals have 5 run plays, 26 pass plays. Also, Nick Foles is dead, so lol Jaguars
  21. Darnold with 175 yards passing on 41 attempts. Was Nagy calling the plays?
  22. Maddon?? Darvish was on a pitch count. It wasn’t maddon’s Call. The Lester decision is dumb, but has nothing to do with yesterday. oh i forgot they were making sure he’s fresh for the postseason Or not dead next year. Unless you're cool paying him another 8 figure salary for sitting on the IL
  23. lol, never mind about the defense. This is a beat down
  24. Browns looking an awful lot like the Bears (i.e. great defense, but can't get anything going on offense, and shooting themselves in the foot with a ton of penalties)
