  1. Yes, but a good prospect shouldn't own guys like Lee, Burnitz and Ramirez.
  2. Maddux has settled down nicely. Was almost throwing too many strikes there early.
  3. Waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come out and tell us all that the game doesn't really start until 5pm?
  4. hence our success against randy johnson  he he he, um, the exception that proves the rule? The Cubs do well against guys like Willis, Clemens, etc. who you think would be tough, but can't hit youg guys (like most of Milwaukee's staff)
  5. Cubs formula is easy: If opposing pitcher is a veteran (preferably with HOF credentials) the Cubs will put 15 runs on the board If opposing pitcher is a rookie (preferably with 5 or fewer major leagu starts) they Cubs will get 1 hit
  6. Ah christ. Duke is going to own us today, isn't he?
  7. Craig Wilson out of the game = slightly less sucky
  8. Let's go Suckies! (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)
  9. Hey. Mizzou..... you could do worse !! I mean, think of it this way.... you're not having to watch Leicester, Dempster, Rusch, Mitre, or Koronka start, right ?? I got to watch Koronka start...:puker: That sucks. Sucks like the Cubs?
  10. Glad the games not being played in my backyard, as it looks like the tropical rainforest out there.
  11. Hey. Mizzou..... you could do worse !! I mean, think of it this way.... you're not having to watch Leicester, Dempster, Rusch, Mitre, or Koronka start, right ?? Yeah, I've seen such Cubs legends as Jim Bullinger, Jeremi Gonzalez and Anthony Young pitch live! Maddux is a HOF'er!
  12. Maybe if he'd quit throwing gems and start throwing baseballs he'd fare better. Buh-dum-chit! Thanks, I'm here all night. Tip your Veal!
  13. John Madden and Pat Summerall. Oh, wrong sport.
  14. I think you said it right here. I expect that he may be up on August 1 if either Remmy or Rusch is moved. You don't want to be calling a guy up and sending him back down over and over. If he's doing so well as a starter, why not let him start in AAA and then see if he can start at the major league level? I get tired of seeing guys do great as starters in the minors and then go to the pen in the majors. I think it screws up their preparation and pitching schedule.
  15. Well, it's game day Cubs. Have any of you suckaholics slept off any of your suckitude, or do you still suck like the suckiest sucks that ever sucked in the history of suck?
  16. I didn't know that "being an intimidating presence at the plate" was a criteria for getting into the Hall...
  17. I almost had Autry in my class when I was a grad student at NU. But alas, no. BTW, a suggestion for the Cubs brass: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THESE $*&^^%*# SEVENTH INNING STRETCH GUESTS!!!!! ARGHHHH!
  18. I'm a Firefox guy. Built in pop up stopper, tabbed browsing, etc. IE is just too damned buggy, and too susceptible (sp?) to spyware and unwanted "toolbar" plugins
  19. Not nearly enough choices. Just subscribe to MLB Extra Innings on the ol' sattelite and you'll here a dozen terrible broadcast teams from all around the country. But Hawk and DJ are so, so terrible. Complete homers, don't talk 1/2 the time, get really riled up when the media says stuff about them (Hawk has used Sox airtime to air his dislike of Boers and Bernstein on several occasions). Darrin Jackson was a medicore player and now is a horrible color guy.
  20. If he plays next year and gets 600 HR, he will join just Mays and Aaron with those stats. Crazy.
  21. I think all options should be considered. Huff or Dunn seem more likely simply because of their respective teams combined suckitude, but you also never know with those two GMs. The Mets would have to go on a serious slide here the next 2 weeks to start selling.
  22. Wah? But he was an All Star! You don't mean that someone who didn't deserve to be there was voted in, do you?
  23. The Cubs are the suckiest suck that ever did suck. Think you can stop sucking long enough to not suck? Eh, sucky?
  24. Maybe he'll join Neagle, Nomo and Borowski in Tampa Bay, where old pitchers go to die.
  25. The Cubs are currently on a 45-44 streak over the last 89 games. /I'm a hella-good statistician!
